Fire at the Forge [Closed]

Jacob took the pendant and smiled. He looped the leather around his neck and admired it for a few moments
"Thanks Hira" he chuckled to himself slightly "it's a shame the Alpha didn't knock one of my fangs out, otherwise I would have made you one."

Hira snorts loudly. "Horns regrow. Fangs don't." She says as she checks her scroll. "Five minutes until the gunship is here."

Jacob absently fiddled with the pendant, smiling to himself
"Depends on the Wolf."

The sound of jet engines is heard as a large hoverjet flies in and slowly starts lowering down, landing carefully. Two of the three cockpits unseal with a hiss and then raise open. "Let's go Jacob." Hira says as she heads towards the huge hoverjet.

Jacob clambered to his feet before joining her
"You still have the ore right?" he asked, nervous grin appearing on his face.

She looks at him for a moment before looking in her pack. "Yeah, got it." Hira says as she grabs the first rung leading up to the middle cockpit. She starts climbing before dropping her pack into the cockpit, lowering herself in with it.

"Thank god for that" Jacob chuckled "I'd hate to go home empty handed after all that." But Jacob knew full well that even without the ore he would not have been going home empty handed, he had Hira's pendant around his neck, and the Alpha's mask nestled in his bag. He clambered into the other cockpit and breathed almost a sigh of relief as he sat down.

Hira carefully set the pilot's headset under her horns and clipped on the H.U.D plate. Before the cockpits seal she calls up to Jacob. "You only need to wear the headset, you're not in the gunner's cockpit!"

Jacob did as instructed and the HUD flashed up. It may as well have been another language for all it meant to him. He folded his arms across his chest and closed his eyes.

The cockpits seal with a small hiss and Hira activates the communications channels. "Jacob, we're going to be doing a combat run to destroy the transport that brought the Fang here. I'll need you to spot for me." She says as she goes through the checklists.

Jacobs eyes opened and he sat up in his seat
"Got it" he replied, trying to readjust the headset so that it accommodated his wolf ears slightly better.

The relative silence inside the cockpits becomes a low hum as the ship slowly lifts off the ground and Hira flicks the weapon activation switch. "Pilot, this is Cockpit 2, I'm ready for maneuver execution. Cockpit 3, are you ready for target painting?"

"Er, yeah. Cockpit 3 ready for target painting" Jacob stared at the console, bewildered "am I supposed to press something for that or is it just verbal?"

Hira fits her hands into the weapon control gloves, tapping each control as she does a check. "Verbal. This model doesn't come with an auto-targeter so I'll have to take potshots. Pilot, we are ready for combat. Initiate maneuver." She says into the mic, watching the lights slowly turn green on her control panels. She gets pressed into the seat as the ship starts forward thrust, the low hum turning into a dull roar.

This was way more preferable to the chopper, Jacob leaned forwards in his seat, his eyes darting across the treeline. The thrum of the engines shook the seats slightly and Jacob grinned Now this is flying.

Hira smiled to herself as all the weapons come online and she dramatically throws out her hands, her fingertips brushing the glass canopy. "Jacob, I'll need some targets soon. It should be a Bullhead class, and it's likely white. I'm going to hit them with a thermal lance if I can, but if I miss I'll have to use either the flechette canisters or the napalm cannon."

"Got it" Jacob grunted. He peered through the cockpit glass at the treeline, searching for a hint of white among the green. "Left" he called out "thirty degrees to the right, looks like it's getting ready to take off."

Hira's eyes snap to where he called, before she places her hands on the main weapon control sticks. "Pilot, bring us about to bearing 13." She says before the low speed jet turns. "Firing thermal lance, cover your eyes ladies and gentlemen." The Tanker grumbles before tapping the trigger. A low whine is heard over the engines before a beam of pure light and energy splits the air, causing everything else to look dark. A few moments later Hira swears a few times. "I missed, switching to flechette canisters."

The White Fang vessel lifted into the air, looking like a bloated tic composed of iron and glass. Its engines warmed up as it turned to flee
"They're making a break for it, bring them down!" Jacob snarled.

Right as Hira is about to respond a hail of bullets patter up the front of the gunship, smashing the bottom cockpit to pieces. "We've lost the pilot, switching controls over to myself! Jacob, hold onto your ears, I'm pulling us up to combat speed!" She shouts as she slams a control forwards, the afterburners kicking in. The dull roar turns into a giant howling cry as the engines push to max, both Hira and Jacob getting pushed back into their seats. The bullhead starts to fly away. "Firing Flechette canisters, hope for the best!" She yells as she pulls the triggers. A loud clunk is heard as two missiles disconnect from the bottom of the ship and fire off, before airbursting and sending a huge wall of fist sized metal spikes towards the white airship.

Jacob gritted his teeth as the ship shook violently. The high pitched whine mad his wolf ears tingle slightly, but all was forgotten in the rage that was quickly taking hold of him. The shrapnell struck the back of the Fang airship and it slowed, port side stooping closer to the ground, smoke belched from one of the rear engines.

Narrowing her eyes, Hira flicked on the switch override for the gatling cannons, completely forgetting to warn Jacob before she fires them, the 40 MM shells spraying all over the White Fang ship. The vibrations from the cannon firing cause her teeth to rattle, but she ignores that only concentrating on the absolute destruction of the ship.

The bullets punched hundreds of tiny wormholes into the Fang ship and the stoop worsened. Slowly, it began to tumble out of the air. It ground into the earth, throwing dirt high into the air, flames built up as the fuel ignited. Jacob could faintly make out figures crawling free of the wreck.
"That's a hit!" He shouted "finish it Hira!"

Hira switched off the cannons, dropping the Napalm shells. "Shells have been dropped, hope for maximum effect." She says as she pulls the ship into a slow turn to see the destruction caused by the napalm shells.

The flames spread within seconds, tearing through what was left of the ship and searing the trees around it. Rosebuds of fire unfurled as the fuel tanks ignited. Jacob stared at the devestation with a gleam of satisfaction in his eyes We'll have your head Reaver. The White Fang will hunt you down and end your clan.

Hira watches the devastation before she starts laughing quietly. "We did it Jacob... we did it. Let's go home." She says as she lowers the speed on the jet, turning it towards Beacon.

"Yeah" Jacob folded his arms and leaned back in his seat "we got this bunch, but there'll always be more. They'll be martyrs for what happened here."
