Lost and Forgotten

Roan sat quietly with the blade of his scythe resting on his lap with the staff behind him. "Patience Sage it may save your life one day". He spoke in a wise tone but he didn’t lift his head from his scythe. He made sure is face mask fit well as he didnt want his toxic breath to escape unfiltered. He was not wearing his cloak today as it was rather quiet so what was  a few people who saw him?

Athenasia walked into a clearing noticing two figures in the distance. She walked for about another minute and approached them "Are you kidding me? You guys don't even look like you can fight...why do I sign up for this shit...." Athenasia crossed her arms and lay in wait for an answer of some sort.

"Well, it could be that your gullible and hot headed?" A new man with dirty blond hair snarked as he walked up, his coat blowing slightly in the wind. Looking at the other two before they got a chance to respond to his presence, he introduced himself.

"Sup, the name's Rien Doran. Freelancer." The merc said.

Honestly Roan hated doing introductions but it appeared he had no choice but to do so after Sage drew all the attention to him. He held his scythe in one hand as he stood to meet eyes with Rein. His reptilian eyes inspected the man before he spoke "Roan Alma, Pleased to meet you". He then turned to the girl who had insulted him moments earlier. "You...the child with the better-than-you attitude. What is your name?" He asked before sitting down again and returning to sharpening his scythe without waiting for an answer.

Athenasia looked at the man named Roan and said. Athenasia...that's all you really deserve to hear so...that's all your going to get!" She turned around and said. "GULLIBLE?! HOTHEADED!? I guess your right..." Athenasia laughed and awaited further introduction.

"Thats all I deserve to hear? I have been around you for less than a minute and that is all I want to ever hear" Roan said in a bored and monotone voice as he continued to sharpen his scythe and began inspecting it closer.

"Hello teammates in adventure~!!" Maria briskly trotted up to the little gathering, forcing hugs on everyone before Sarah stomped out her cigarette and grabbed her sister by the collar and forcing her to sit. "Down girl." Maria pouted. Sarah crossed her arms and paced around the area. "I'm not expected to be splitting my pay with these bad jokes, am I?" "Sarah, there's no such thing as a bad joke! Jokes are a good thing! They make people laugh and be happy and feel better!" Sarah chuckled cynically, almost smiling. She put an unlit cigarette in her mouth. "Sure. Lemme know when you find a good joke, huh? I'd love to hear it. Maria gave Sarah an eerily serious look for someone of her usual disposition, a look that held far deeper understanding and worry than anyone but Sarah would pick up on. Sarah joking raised her hands in the air before addressing Roan. "You're our monybag today, lucky for you, we aren't killing our moneybag today. Take comfort in that. With that, Sarah lit up her cigarette and leaned her head back, staring into space. 

Athenasia looked at the man named Sage with wide eyes and a smile. She thought to herself. "So...dreamy..." She immediately came back to reality and nodded saying. "I-I will Sage!" She sighed and left herself to her thoughts.

"Why was it ignored?" Rien asked doubtfully, "For all you know, it could just be a fake made to capture would be looters."

Maria raised her hand, waving around trying to get Roan's attention. "Oh! Oh! Mr. Scalyfaced guy! Is this illegal? I'm strictly against illegal stuff!" Just then, Sarah grabbed her sister by the neck and pulled her aside, hissing in her ear. "Look, Maria. I know your against this sort of thing, but I've got a feeling you like eating more than you like you hate crime." "B- but, there are other jobs..!" Sarah blew smoke out her nose and shut her eyes, her tone was softer now, though it still carried her typical seriousness. "Maria... You know as well as I do that there are no other jobs. Someday, a dry season like this will be permanent. We need money, he's offering. We're doing this." Maria looked on the brink of tears, but finally gave in and nodded sadly, silently accepting. Sarah stood and took Maria with her. "Alright, if we're talking water, I'm grabbing my quiet legs for the trip. Maria, talk business." With that, Sarah left the area to the car to fetch her non-chainsawed prosthetic legs.

Sarah rolled her eyes. "I'm not leaving 'em behind, dipshit. I' just swapping them so the engine's don't get wet, it's a pain in the ass replacing the chains if they rust." Maria rested her chin on Sage's shoulder innocently. The scene would look odd, a 6' 3'' woman leaning comically over on Sage's shoulder from behind. "It's true, she doesn't like rusty chains. I've helped before, the engine itself is coated in a waterproof seal, save for the exhaust ports, but the chains should be replaced after a while and they are expensive!"

Roan was visibly displeased with Sarah's behaviour  but decided to do nothing about it and to instead begin the expedition to the wreckage. He stood up in the grass while clutching his scythe and couldn’t help but laugh a little under his own breath at the scene of Sage being leaned on by Maria.  He inspected the blade once more to ensure it was properly sharpened for a moment before a look a satisfaction spread across his face as be returned the weapon into their smaller knife-like form. He slipped them into their custom sheaths and turned to face the group that he was about to lead. "It seems we are all here and have gotten to know each other sufficiently so I suggest we get a move on and earn some lien before the day is out." Roan would then gesture toward a southward path that Roan would immediately begin walking down  without checking that any of his fellow group members were following or not. While walking he watched the treeline and seemed to relax a little as be observed nature as he walked down the path toward the wreckage.

Athenasia hasn't really been doing anything for the past several hours. All she could do is make some small talk with the group, make fun of some people, and fangirl over Sage. She still managed to somehow follow him around wherever he went. "S-So dreamy...."

"Everybody stop." Rien ordered, coming to a halt in his walk. Looking around the vet observed the trees, and then the path they were on.

"How did the ship crash? Do you know?" Rien said, his voice serious and directed at Sage.

"Don't you think it's strange?" Rien asked, "A ship, a freighter no less, is just abandoned like you said, but it can be reached with an easy walk. That's a little odd don't you think?" Rien pointed out, "And look around, we've passed this before." He gestured to the treeline, and the ground, which had footprints on it.

Roan did not react to what would appear his own slip up and instead spoke in a calm tone. "I do know the way I walked down this same path the other day to ensure the travel was safe". Roan ensured he did not show his own confusion at the current situation and instead continued to walk forward in hopes that they would still arrive safely.
