Evening Violence [Open]

Timeline: Week 3, Friday

Argent walked around the closed cafe, checking the locks on the doors and windows, under tables if anything was left behind, in the kitchen in anything was left on. So far nothing. The family was asleep, mom upstairs in her meager room and the rest of the staff gone home. At this hour, a few minutes past midnight, the world was still.

Checking the last booth of the cafe, Argent spotted a triangle peaking out from under the seat. Pulling it out, he found a note. Quickly scribbled onto a napkin it read: 1 am, the port, bring your weapons. There's probably a couple hundred Lien in it for you. Word's out, hurry before the tough ones get there.

Perfect

Before his checking, Argent had been packing for his trip to Beacon, the days past his bar brawls were almost at hand. At this point, he had grown used to fighting for money, even enjoyed it. The thrill of combat pumping his veins full of adrenaline. However, as these ended, he would begin a new life. One of fighting not only for money. One of fighting grimm instead of people who could barely block a punch.

It'll only get hard from here.

"A little pocket money would help." He said to the dust motes floating about, grabbing Hima from behind the counter as he ran out the door.

The scent of the sea brought waves of nostalgia back to Xarias, if not for the mixed scent of fish lingering in the air he could have dozed off at the pier. He watched as the  moonlight lit the water as it crashed against the barnacle ridden supports, every crash reminding him a little bit of his former home. He reached into his pocket and brought out a small piece of paper he found lying around an inn he often slept at, it gave a time, place, and an offer of money, something Xarias was running low on. He hadn't been able to rest since his last job but the prospect of easy money got him riled up. He stood up and took one last look at the sea.

Time to get busy.

He picked up his bag and slung his rifle across his shoulders, he wasn't exactly sure where it was but he could definitely hear a commotion starting to brew. There was light across the corner of some of the dock's warehouses, and a couple of people heading towards that direction. Xarias figured this was the place and followed suit.

Agni thumped heavily on the corrugated steel rooftop of a warehouse, a salty breeze blowing in Argent's face. As he reached the edge, he scanned the sight sprawling before him.

Metal and Red containers rose high in stacks three stories high in parallel rows across the grounds. Large cranes dotted the area, some still holding containers high into the air. A boat was docked at the edge of the harbor, dark and unlit. At the center of the area was what Argent assumed the note to be talking about. Between too walls of containers, about a 20 meter space, was a group of people. Most of them leaning on the crates, some perched on top, their feet dangling and thumping against the hollow metal. In the center however, two men were going at it. One with some sort of mace, the other with a large broadsword/chainsaw.

The two fought furiously, almost hitting the audience at several points but minutes later, the fight was over and the man with the mace had one, his opponent on the floor. Whether he was still living, Argent didn't know.

Seconds after the hiss body was dragged to the side, hopefully to recuperate, a man's voice boomed through the air.

"Winners, claim your rewards, losers better luck next time!" He said, waving a rapier through the air, rapping it against the metal crate to gather everyone's attention. "Next challenger, step up step up! Remember, we're not faunus, we've got rules! No guns, no semblance, and no refunds!"

Xarias followed a couple of people to the far ends of the dock to find out where the event was being held, just as he got to the location he heard an obnoxious voice boom out.

"Winners, claim your rewards, losers better luck next time!" He said "Next challenger, step up step up! Remember, we're not faunus, we've got rules! No guns, no semblance, and no refunds!"

I hate those kinds of people. This is good, now I don't have to hold back any punches.

Xarias climbed some of the crates to get a better view of the area, he then spots a mass of people crowding a man standing on top of a higher crate. Apparently that's where the bets went, Xarias wasn't interested in gambling, it wasn't his thing. He then scoped around and saw the announcer on top of another crate. Wanting to have a little fun, Xarias uses his grappling blade to zip right on top of him, nearly knocking off his obviously fake wig. He landed right in front of him with a grin on his face and said,

"Where do I sign up?"

"Hey, what's wrong with being a faunus, ese?" Tequila called down from one of the higher-stacked containers, tugging on the inset of her short jacket. She had her ears and fox tail on full display, of course, displaying both those, and the red X pattern on her jacket and half-skirt, without shame. "You and yours may be top dog, cabron, but," she wiggled her ears, "that doesn't make you as cute. Or as good in a fight."

Looks like the fun's about to start.

As Argent jumps onto a nearby crane arm, he spots a blue figure swooping in, landing right in front of the guy in charge. Looks like he's ready to go.

A couple jumps and he's on the crane above the action, leaning against the railing. There's a faunus girl sitting on one of the containers, her feet swaying and bumping into crate with no particular rhythm.

"Hey, what's wrong with being a faunus, ese?" She yelled down, all eyes now looking up at her. She's wearing a skirt so that might not be the best spot to sit.

"that doesn't make you as cute. Or as good in a fight."

Huh. A challenger approaches? Let the games begin.

Peculiar, now this is going to get interesting

A faunus girl seemed to have appeared out of nowhere and started jesting whilst sitting on top of a nearby crate. She was tugging on her jacket and wiggled her ears in a rather cute manner. Xarias took his eyes off the guy in front of him and had his eyes set on the faunus girl. He then noticed some large men creeping their way through the crowd towards her. He then noticed one guy right behind her and knew he had to do something.

"Hey, Behind you!" Xarias yelled, just as the thug reached for the girl's ears.

(she's actually wearing shorts, the half-skirt is to conceal her weapon for polite company. Not "concealed carry", but "I'm hiding this from sight to make it clear I'm not about to kill you with it".)

She didn't need the yell, but she certainly appreciated it - one arm came up, wrapping the thug's as she twisted, briefly locking their arms together... at least until she stepped through and wrenched. There was a sick, echoing crunch as the motion dislocated his shoulder, and she stepped and turned in the other direction, planting her ankle behind his and driving her elbow into his nose, flattening it and putting him down in a heap behind her.

For her part, Tequila ended up exactly where she'd been standing a moment ago. "Chinga tu madre, cabron." she laughed happily.

Argent's eyes light up at the show.

"Girl's got skills." Argent said to himself, chuckling lightly. "Don't see a weapon on her thou-there it is." He said, spotting a hilt peaking out.

"Hey! Kitty cat!"

A voice calls from ground level. It's the ringleader again.

"Save the fighting for down here!" He said turning to the audience. "Listen up! We've got some new blood 'ere! Next up is kitty cat versus" He turns to the guy in blue "What's yer name again kid?"

Tequila bounced down into the ring, not yet pulling her blade from its hilt. "Fox girl. Fox. Do these look like cat ears to you?" she wiggled them again.

The ringleader turns back to the faunus, raising an eyebrow.

"Fine. Fox girl. We've got Fox Girl and Goggles kid" He yelled to the audience, not bothering to get his name anymore.

The audience widens the ring that had grown tighter in the past few minutes till it spans the entirety of the space between the crates, probably eager to get out of "fox girl's" range.

"Let's see what these guys've got in store." Argent said, wind whipping at his hair.

"No need for names, I'm just here to fight" Xarias said, as he carefully studies his opponent. He wasn't in the mood to pick a fight over a name, besides, he's got an opponent now.

I'm not used to fighting girls but it seems I won't need to hold back on this one.

He got down into the ring with the faunus girl and extended his hand out to shake hands. He noticed the hilt of her weapon slightly concealed by her half skirt and also saw that both of her eyes were different colors.

What was it called again? Heterochromia?

"Hey, nice to meet you. I'm goggles kid." Xarias said with a sarcastic tone in his voice, his hand still extended to shake with his upcoming opponent.

Rather than shaking his hand, she curled her hand into a fist and bumped it against his, like she was touching gloves. Well, they were almost in the center of a ring. "Don't worry, I don't bite."

As the two contestants meet at the center, Argent scans the crowd. They've moved back quite a bit now, giving the center a good amount of space. A few more are sitting on the massive crates now and the ringleader's disappeared from his perch on the crate and out of sight.

Try as he might, Argent can't see him anywhere.

Dropping down to one of the taller stacks of crates, he sits on the edge for a better view.

"Hopefully this'll get interesting" He said, resting his elbows and knees, eager for the show to start.

"So, is there gonna be a bell or something?" Xarias said out loud so anyone could hear, apparently the announcer was gone and out of sight. He was starting to wonder what happened to the poor fool, probably put to shame by the faunus girl in front of him. Xarias scanned his surroundings and noticed that he wouldn't be able to use his grappling here without stabbing someone, only the upper crates were clear and he'd probably be a sitting duck hanging from there.

So I guess this is gonna be a good ol' fashioned brawl eh?

Xarias upholstered his rifle and split it to full length to form a lance, the range should be enough to keep anyone at bay, but just in case, he's always ready to split it to it's dual blade form. He switched the magazines to blank rounds to be able to use the momentum without accidentally hitting someone with a stray bullet, afterwards he just started leaning against his weapon.

With a grin on his face he gestured with a small bow to the faunus girl and said, "Ladies first?"

"So, whoever wins here gets the Lien, right?"

Argent nearly jumps at the sudden voice, his hands instinctively going towards Hima. As he turns to see the hulking mass of a person behind him, he calms down, not thinking of him as a threat. Still, his right hand stays ready to be armed.

"I'm not too sure." Argent said, turning back down to the ring. They're standing on opposite ends now, goggles kid leaning on a massive spear. "I'm guessing part of all the bets goes to the winners, part goes to the betters, and part goes to the guy in charge."

Lugh notices a sudden fluctuation in that man's aura.

I guess I startled him a bit

He was about to apologize but he then notices the man's aura level went back to normal.

"I'm not too sure.", the man said and then adding "I'm guessing part of all the bets goes to the winners, part goes to the betters, and part goes to the guy in charge."

"I see... so, who do you think has the higher chance of winning?", he asked the man as he looks at the aura of the two competitors in the center. The one with the goggles seem to have a very unstable aura. The faunus girl somehow appears to have illuminating aura as such that it's color gets lighter the farther it is from her body.

Tequila considered him, and eventually tugged her sword, still sheathed, from its holster, holding it by the sheath, just below the hilt, in an easy stance, legs slightly spread, her whole body swaying lightly from side to side, hypnotic, like a snake.

"After you."

"For now, I can't really tell." Argent said, looking back and forth between the two competitors. "I haven't seen anything of goggles' fighting style. His weapon looks like a gun blade though. As for the faunus, we've seen what she can do. It's her weapon that might change things now."

Looks like neither of them wants to go first. Might be ambush fighters.

As the two competitors stared each other down, Argent mused on the possibilities. And how to beat them he were in their place.

"Well, if you say so." Xarias said, as he lowered down his weapon. He was coiled like a spring now. The faunus girl was swinging from side to side, as if not caring or rather trying to make him let his guard down. Xarias got into position and gripped his weapon tight, he then adjusted his goggles and combed back his hair.

It would be rude of me to just attack right away.

Just as Xarias put his hand near the trigger he said,"Ready yourself fox girl. Let's have this be a clean fight." He then squeezed the trigger for the back barrel. He dashes off toward the faunus girl, launching from his initial position with the help with the recoil of the weapon, blade high, and ready for anything.

Let's see how fast you are fox girl

Even when Xarias attacked, Tequila didn't move beyond shifting her weapon in front of herself, holding it cross-ways and waiting for his blow to fall. Her practiced eyes and ears took in the entirity of his motion, ever-watchful for a sneak attack.

Better not hurt him...

Argent watched as the fight started; one opponent dashing straight into battle and the other calmly waiting for the right time to strike.

He had to admit, he liked how goggles worked. Fists first, questions later. From what Argent saw, he looked like he was enjoying it too.

If we ever meet, I might not hate this guy

"Where are your bets going?" Argent said, turning back to the big guy.

"Huh. I guess we'll see how this plays out" Argent said, returning his attention to the scene below.
