As the four students meet up, they spy only one path that allows them to continue down the maze. The terrain seems to be shifting slightly, allowing the water level to nearly disappear within twenty feet of the students. There is still a general presence of fog, however.

Brady had been aiming down his sights, down in a kneeling shooting position, when he first cought a glimpse of the other pair. He stood, lowering his rifle as he called out.

"Friendlies! Good to see that at least something in these tunnels doesn't want to kill us."

At least he assumed they were friendlies. They looked like friendlies. well... the girl looked friendly. the other guy looked like he wanted to inflict unspeakable harm upon the first thing he saw on a daily basis, but you know, in a good way.

As they floated on down the way, Ba'al dedicated more of his attention to aiding in their propulsion as well as keeping an eye on the path ahead than maintaining the raft. His maintenance of the raft was largely obssessive, ensuring that it was stable rather than actually stabilizing it. Never know when something else was going to feel froggish and try to unseat the pair and their mobile iceberg. This, of course, allowed the charge of ice in the opened, golden blade to grow ever more.

As they proceeded, it became apparent that a fog was rolling in over the water. ...Well, that they were rolling in on the fog, at least. That wasn't good. Fog meant limited sight. However, in these significantly more cramped quarters, fog was easy enough to deal with. In fact, his sword ought to be dealing with the fog that they were boating through right at that very moment. The intense cold of the ice dust would force the moisture in the air to condense, which would then either precipitate down to the water-- or ice-raft--, or collect on the mounting ice of the blade. To fire blasts of ice dust into the mist would clear it out quite nicely.

Unfortunately, that would mean expending ever more Ice dust. Mayhap two ice crystals would be prudent. At least if he was going to head into an environ such as this.... '****in' bastards... damn this ****ehole and every last idiocratic greaser stain that thought this ****e was a good idea.'

His anger cropped up again in a set and tightened jaw before he allowed his ire to drain and his attentions to return fully to the mounting unpleasantness before them. As they closed in on that noise, Ba'al raised his sword directly forward as he spotted two armed, distinctly humanoid figures standing in the mist. His form beginning to vaguely suffuse with a glow of pale gold that would be obvious only to Fei as the others standing over there would see only the glow of the torch behind him.

"So. We meet at feckin' last." The echo his accented voice would otherwise have was unsurprisingly muted by the blanket of fog. As his sword continued to charge and the one structure of ice grew closer to the other, the ambient temperature of this part of the tunnels would drop all that much more. Hopefully it would reach it's dew point soon enough. Then, though cold, they would be able to progress without dealing with the inability to see clearly.

After a few moment's, Ba'al would lower Sicarius down to his side and get as good a look over the pair as he could. One gunner, who spoke, apparently excited to see other students. One swordsman. ...Woman. She had some kind of gauntlet, too. And... dog ears? While the red-head couldn't discern the exact species, it was clear that one of them was a Faunus. "Well, get on yeh pricks." He called to the other pair, referring to the literal ice-raft that they would sooner or later be able to see through the water vapor as it meandered through the water. "We've got tunnels to vacate, **** to kill, and rat bastards to skewer."

Rachael watched as the two figures came into view and lowered her sword once she figured they were friendly. Looking at the two, she began processing information like no one's business. One was a girl, the other a boy. The boy looked hostile but he wasn't attacking them, so was he friendly? They would have to figure that out in a few minutes. The girl was seemingly shy and didn't look like much of a talker, but looks could be deceiving. Not that she thought the girl was evil or anything, but it never hurt to be a little paranoid from time to time. Rachael decided to give them a thorough look over with her semblance.

Rachael closed her eyes so the others couldn't see them turn red when she activated her semblance. Once it was activated though, she quickly looked over the two. Well, one of them anyways. The girl didn't seem to have her aura unlocked yet, but the boy did, and it was an unpleasant feeling. It felt like rage mixed with a few other emotions, and... bloodlust? Rachael couldn't tell for sure. Perhaps he would be a loose cannon? Only time would tell.

Rachael didn't say anything, she only opened her eyes after disabling her semblance and quickly gave them one more look over before sighing and turning around so she wasn't facing them. She didn't want to look at them right now, she needed to concentrate and process her theories and facts about the boy and girl.

Whatever the reason Balthazar suddenly became more hostile then that which already emanated off his being, Fei felt it was wrong of him to just brush off the only contact they've had since initiation started so easily. Though she felt it was not the right time to verbally chastise his behavior in front of their new companions. The fog, though slightly obstructive and unnerving in how quickly it appeared, gave Fei some time to prepare herself for this new encounter. And so, when their boat and both she and Balthazar came into view, she raised a free hand and awkwardly waved it towards them both with a smile. She hoped they wouldn't notice or at least look too closely at the object held in her right hand and figure out it was her weapon being used as both torch and oar.

Shifting her feet, Fei stepped back a bit to more better accommodate the two. She dared not look at them directly, even with regards to the small mask covering her eyes, as if fearing some punishment unspoken. Therefore, after her initial wave, she had dipped her head down so as to not attract attention to herself.

"so we meet at feckin last"
yup. Friendly was definitely the wrong word.
"well, get on ye pricks"

oh yeah. this guy was just going to be a joy to work with.
She seems nice though, He thought as he returned Fei's timid wave.

It took Brady a second to realize what his unreasonably hostile new friend meant by that before he saw their raft.
He shook his head slightly "No need. only one way to go, and it looks like relatively dry land. you guys can abandon the love boat here. we're walking for now."
He shifted slightly, changing his rifle into the shotgun form and sent one final blast of ice dust, freezing the rest of the water down the short passage forwards.
"I'm Brady, by the  way. and this is Rachael. it's nice to meet you two."

Hostile!? I'LL SHOW YOU HOSTILE!

...Wait, no. Wrong movie.

Funny part is, that was friendly. Especially for Balthazar. Here he was, inviting these complete strangers out for a-- albeit potentially short-- ride on a nice little boat, and gunnerboy here just goes ahead and says **** that. Talk about rude. Hell, the other one didn't even have the courtesy to face them! She just closed her eyes and turned away. Sheesh! Some people. Honestly.

...Yeah, anyway.

Ba'al raised an eyebrow at the words of the gray haired shooter. By now, he could likewise see what it was THEY were standing on. A platform likewise made of ice. Only theirs seemed to trail back down the other tunnel. A bridge? Did they use that the entire time? What a horrendously munition-inefficient method. For certain you might be able to walk along that thing faster, but the sheer quantities of dust they must have had to use to do it. Balthazar addressed this point. "Aye, but then you wouldn't have had to waste even more ammo makin' that ****e, would ya?" He motioned with the katana with the ever building mass of ice around it toward the bridge of like element. "Think, boyo, think." For certain, one final blast to complete the distance wasn't much more than what they could have possibly already used just getting to this point, but one single shot could just as easily define the difference between life and death.

"And that most certainly isn't the only way t'go, lad." A matter of fact tone as he pressed his left hand along the ceiling, guiding the raft toward the landscape shifting tunnel and ice bridge. "There were no less than three other ****in' paths back there." He thumbed over his shoulder, almost wishing he'd taken one of them, instead. That first left was looking mighty appealing right about now. A thought, then. ...Well, a stream of them. Yes, another one. Did those other paths lead to other people? If they did, were they now wandering about, hopelessly looking for the exit, and instead stumbling upon an abandoned set of clothes on the floor of a cavern? If they didn't, then that would have to mean that the pairs... at least these two, would have to have been specifically placed by those who threw them down here. That was even LESS of a random occurence. What kind of scam were these Beacon assholes running?

...We'll stop there. He goes on like that for a while.

Once the raft was sidled up nicely along the bridge, Ba'al turned to the... well, unsurprisingly quiet Fei. Her behavior was strange, but that was an entirely new twisting maze of thoughts the likes of which only the semi-sociopathic swordsman could follow. Just not going there. With his left hand, he motioned for her to get off the raft. So as to avoid a tip over at the absolute last second, Ba'al would wait for her to move before stepping off himself.

And yes, he did, in fact, ignore their names as presented. Names weren't important. His name wasn't important, his partner's name wasn't important, these new shmuck's names weren't important. Ba'al wouldn't even know Fei's if he hadn't entered a phase of bored curiosity... oh, fifteen minutes ago or so.

Rachael looked over her shoulder for a second to watch the two watch the two approach on the boat. She was curious about the more aggressive of the two, but that curiosity was quickly replaced with irritation when she heard him say:

"Aye, but then you wouldn't have had to waste even more ammo makin' that ****e, would ya?"

Her face adopted an expression of irritation as she turned around to look at him.

"Yes, because getting our blood sucked by leeches and being eaten by eels sounds oh so fun!" she said, her tone dripping with sarcasm like it was a venom. "We had no choice, we weren't lucky enough to have the ever wonderful ability to craft boats from ice. It was this or swim with the killer fish."

She was angry this guy immediately assumed they had a better choice. If they did, they would have taken it without a second thought. It's not like they wanted to waste dust and ammo to make a bridge, they had no choice. She threw him a glare before walking off down the path Brady made and stepped onto the fresh land. It was about time they got to land, she was sick of walking on ice. Knowing that the boy behind her was hostile, she quickly activated her semblance once more, this time not closing her eyes to hide the fact they turned a deep crimson when her semblance was in effect. She stood on the land and turned her head over her shoulder to yell "Hurry up!" and then turned around, waiting for them to follow.

Now internally conflicted as to what to do in a situation where the newly formed partnership between herself, Balthazar, Rachael and Brady might just end before it even had a chance to begin. Fei looked up towards the three from her position on the back of the boat and nodded as Balthazar seemed to wait for her before he himself disembarked and so quickly got off herself, glad to feel land beneath her feet after what she just went through. Seeing as this part of the tunnel system seemed relatively lit, or at the least more visible then before, Fei dipped the still burning end of her spear into the water, dousing it. Whilst waiting for Balthazar, she pulled off the sticky remains of their clothing used as lighting material, dropping the wad onto the cold floor before twirling the weapon around once; returning it to it's innocuous appearance of a simple metal baton-like stick. Once Balthazar was situated and walking, she'd slip the metal stick back into it's hold and follow after the three.

"I am thinkin' Bucko, but the fact of the matter here is - "He hefts his gun up onto his shoulder "this here ain't exactly a scalpel, so i'm sorry if our method wasn't as precise as your lovely little ice raft.
Brady's voice didn't betray any hint of iritation. hell, he almost sounded legitimately apologetic. Brady was bad at sarcasm.
"As for going this way, it's the only way none of us have gone. better to keep moving forward, yeah? not like we have any reason to pick any of the paths we've already passed instead of this one, and to go to any of those others, we'd just be backtracking and wasting time."
He tilted his rifle, swinging it horizontally up behind his head, Hanging his hands on it to hold it there.
"Didn't catch your names, by the way." He said with a small grin.

Ba'al stepped off the raft at exactly the same time that Fei did. Which had been the point. Keep the balance of the structure while they disembarked. Glancing at his partner, he raised an eyebrow as she rid her weapon of the torch that had encumbered it. He quite understood her desire to no longer be using her weapon in that fashion as it would be unready when something inevitably jumped out at them, but he also questioned whether ridding the group of a light source was wise. Didn't bother voicing the concern, however. Partly because there were other sources of light available if need be. But mostly because his head had slowly turned to the other direction.

Dome tilted to the side in an exaggerated manner, he stared at the dog-girl-- at least he thought that's what she was....-- with a dumfounded, 'are you retarded?' expression stretched clear across his face. Given? What? Some of his exhasperation directed at this... Rachael, was it? was abated as the gunner spoke up once again. As Ba'al walked after them, taking long, slow strides up the slight incline in the tunnel floor, he responded. "I was morely talkin' 'bout that last, pointless shot." The boat was right there for the capitalization. "How much dust d'ya have left, lad? Unless there's a crystal in that hammer o'yours," a play on the scalpel comment, "every last ****in' shot counts, does it not?" Regardless of their opinion of him, Ba'al's tone wasn't hostile. Sarcastic? Half the time. Rude? Yes. Argumentative? Most definitely. But nothing in him or about him said he was going to haul off on the pair. ...Well, maybe smack the mutt upside the head for being an idiot.... That said, despite what he could guarantee was an ability to move faster than either of them, Ba'al stayed behind the two new arrivals. Let them get attacked first, he figured. Just as long as they got out of the way when something large and satisfying to evicerate came along.

"That's not the point, son. Nor is it the only way we," refering to himself and Fei, though he didn't specify, "haven't gone. This could be dead backwards for all the **** of what we know.  Certainly, head down this one first but, ignorin' the other paths would be bleedin' stupid. Exit could've stared us in the gob but for a sign pointin' to it." At this point, Balthazar was arguing just to argue. Not that he was even bothering to explore every path of bicker that his mind could muster. Brady's one foolish move there was done and irreversible, and their path, for now, was decided regardless of... what, four roads he himself didn't choose? Who knows what paths they had ignored on the way down?

For the most part, the violent Hunter was alleviating his own boredom at the expense of these... team mates. Oh, sure, there could have been more constructive ways to do it. Like gleaning information on the two of them. Or perhaps even Fei. Their capabilities, for instance. That would allow him to quickly formulate a plan in a combat situation and bark out orders. Then again, he didn't really care. He was perfectly capable of dealing with whatever they ran into down here on his own.

Simply put, Balthazar Raghnall Kael didn't need them. He most assuredly didn't their names. Once again, he purposely ignored Brady's indirect request for their names.

'What a useless prick.' Rachael thought to herself, referring to the boy behind her who still refused to tell them his name. Why didn't he join her and Brady up here? Well, they did pretty much hate eachother, but still. It means if they got into a fight then she and Brady would get to it first, and Brady wasn't particularly close range. He had a shotgun, yes, but if anything got too close it'd be a problem. And she couldn't exactly shoot at anything herself what with these confined spaces and extra people. The other two seemed to have melee weapons as well, so it'd be harder to aim at something with them close to it. Not that she needed to shoot it, but it's nice to kill things before they get close.

What was even worse, is that these were probably going to be her teammates. A shy girl, a hostile ****, and a lazy guy. Great. Her first and probably only team and it was with seemingly unbearable people. Rachael couldn't wait to find out how the dorm room would work out. She only grunted and gave a sigh of irritation at the thought before quickly forgetting about it. As the group walked down the hall, Rachael kept her semblance active and was paying attention for any signs of Grimm. Eyes in the distance, shaking ground, unusual noises, anything. But nothing was coming up besides the others around her. Joy, she was going to be stuck with them for god knows how long. Maybe if a Grimm did show up she could disappear among the fighting and finish the caves on her own? No, that was a bad idea, she couldn't take on more than a few Grimm at a time.

Rachael was irritating herself more just thinking about these things. Why was she even here? She should have just stayed at home...

As the unlikely group finally got going, conversational bickering and profanity galore, Fei lagged just slightly behind the larger Balthazar as she found it in herself to serve as the rearguard of the party. Silent as she was, her ears were paying attention to the conversations being passed back and forth between her companions and the idle sounds of the tunnel they were slowly leaving behind, each of their footsteps acting as a beacon of normality with deviant sounds being easier to pinpoint. Aside from her silent observations and astute ability to differentiate sounds, Fei had remained quiet throughout all this only because she wanted to wait until after all this was done and over with before beginning proper introductions. The questions for Balthazar already numbered in the dozens, with the addition of both Rachael and Brady's appearing, the numbers exponentially tripled.

For the moment, it seemed they had nothing to fear from the denizens aside from themselves. Though her confidence had dimmed a little after witnessing the interactions between Balthazar, Brady and Rachael, Fei still held that optimism that carried them through the tunnels back. She was sure they would be able to work together if faced with a common threat, for if not even working together to stay alive broke the boundaries of first impressions, then truly all hope was lost.

Brady shrugs at Ba'al's first questions.
"Didn't want to get wet" He said as he searched the pouches on his belt.
"But yeah, if this is a dead end, we turn back. simple."
a moment later he pulled out a single vial of ice dust, with only a third remaining.
"I've got two vials of burn dust, two vials of lightning and this much ice. probably  enough to keep killin' stuff 'till we get out of here."
He slung his gun onto his back, freeing up his hands and proceeded to stretch out, yawning loudly. He turned around, beginning to walk backwards
"anyway, we should probably figure out a combat strategy or something, make sure we play to our strengths." He shrugged his shoulder, bumping his rifle
"I for one, prefer to keep my distance"

The flabbergasted expression returned in diminished capacity. This time directed at the gunner. His left hand, open palmed moved back, indicating the area they'd just left. "Boat." With a distinctly 'what the **** are you on about?' tone in response to the comment about not wanting to get wet. He'd told them to get on the damned thing, had he not? "Still not the only way to go," same tone, "and there needn't be an end to be the completely wrong feckin way." Ba'al just shook his head, honestly dumfounded. Did the shaggy kid think at all? He said he did. Was he lying? Or was his capacity for reason and logic so horrifically limited, he couldn't even comprehend his own inanity?

When Brady held up the mostly empty, relatively small bottle of powdered dust and commented on... probably having enough munitions to deal with whatever was in their way on the way out? ... Welp. That settled it. The gunner was an idiot and didn't even realize it. 'What cluster**** of stupid did I just land meself in?' Balthazar scoffed audibly. "'Probably'? Lad if ****ing 'probably' is good enough for you, yer gonna be lickin' the ****e off'a death's ****in' boots before long." His head was actually hurting from that one. A small shake to his head persisted for several seconds as the swordsman failed an attempted to reset the computer, and hopefully purge what he had just heard from the harddrive.

Ba'al continued to try to let it go as the final topic of discussion arose: Battle plans. That most certainly was something he could use to bleach his brain. Combat was something he could think on all day, all night, and all rest-of-the-week straight on until he entered once more into the breech. In this situation, however, the plan was quite simple indeed, and went as thus: "The combat strategy, boyo, is you ****ers sit back whilst I kill what need be killed." His tone had taken on a more serious and direct quality as his green eyes stared across the small distance, directly into Brady's. He wasn't kidding. "And if anything happens to make it past me, you let her handle it." His left, blue-glove-covered hand went into action as he thumbed over his shoulder, pointing to Fei. Awful lot of confidence he was placing in his partner. Or was he just screwing with the other two? Bit of both, probably.

Still, he'd much sooner trust the guard of his back to the shortest member of the party and her spear than either of the two middling ones.

By now, the ice charge within Sicarius' open blade was reaching ridiculous levels. It had been at least three minutes since he'd started charging it. Whatever poor pathetic organism going to catch this shot in the face was going to be blasted directly into the next ice age. ...At this rate, that might just be one of the two students in front of him. He'd rather slam the mounting ice dust into a Grimm or six, but **** happens.

Rachael hardly listened to what the irritating lump of flesh behind her spewed from his disgusting mouth. She only looked forward, eyes unfaltering from the path laid before her. She expected to deal with pricks like this, but she certainly didn't prepare to have one on her team. They could deal with whatever issues came up and she could lazily stand idle and watch. Or maybe she could 'misfire' just to mess with them? She would decide on that when the time came. Until then, she was forced to listen to the bickering of everyone else.

Rachael checked the dust levels in her sword. They had just run out a few minutes ago, just when the other two arrived. She sighed as she opened the bottom of her hilt and began carefully pouring in blaze dust as they walked. Hopefully she wouldn't need anymore ice dust for bridges anymore. If they needed that, she'd just give Brady more of hers. She had at least three bottles left of the stuff just sitting on the side of her belt anyways. It's not like they'd run out anytime soon.

Giving one last look over her shoulder, she examined the positions they were in just in case of a fight. Her and Brady were next to eachother, the guy stood just behind them, and the girl took the rearguard. Why was she in back and not up here? Rachael really wished she could feel the girl's aura, but it was locked from what she could discern. Oh well, she'd learn about her soon enough.

Unawares of the thoughts and intentions being brewed within the group, Fei's attention was far more focused on what was going around them rather then within them. Ashamed of what had happened before back in the tunnels, having been caught off-guard from the most unexpected direction, Fei doubled her efforts in making sure that every orifice and organ capable of being used as an organic early warning system was worked to the tipping point of efficiency. Whether she'd admit it or not, Fei was not sure if she could keep the two gunners safe from harm, though Balthazar's confidence in pointing her out brought out a small boost of smiling morale on her face. Returning to her watch, she wondered what exactly these tunnels would throw out at her next, the absence of everything but their own footsteps worried her.

The extremely mismatched group of students continue their trek across dry land, eventually coming across a new set of crossroads. The path straight ahead seemed to give them the option of going to the left, but the path to their right was indistinguishable from the rest of the cave.

"Uh huh" Brady mumbled. his new teammate wasn't wrong in his assesment of their route options. then again, he didn't really have a point. the same argument could have been made for literally any alternative path they chose, so Brady just chalked it up to this guy just being contrary on purpose or something.

At Ba'al's scoff about Brady's lack of concen for his dust reserves, the indifference continued. "even if I run out of dust, regular bullets kill things just fine too." He said with a shrug.

His combat strategy, and quite frankly, the attitude it entails... well now there was a small problem that needed to be addressed, and as they were approaching an intersection, now may as well be the time.
"You hear that Rach? we're in luck. looks like our new friend here is a fully graduated Hunstman already, and is just doing the initiation for fun. doesn't need a team, doesn't need our help. we're just gonna get to cruise on through this."
He was getting better at this whole sarcasm thing.
He leaned up against the wall, frowning as he sighed loudly.
"listen mate, i'm sure you're an exceptional fighter. you may actually be almost as good as you think you are, but the rest of us are here to improve. we're here to "hone our craft and acquire new skills" as they say. but we can't exactly do that if we just sit back whilst you kill what needs to be killed. We all made it into Beacon. nobody here is useless in a fight, But if we want to make sure we all make it through the next four years unscathed, we'd best have some actual strategies."

"So!" He says as he unslings his gun and plants the muzzle into the ground at his feet. "I can provide ranged support. precision or area burst, bullets or dust... would anyone else like to share?" He asked with a pointed look at the trio.

they had four years as a team to deal with personality conflicts, but conflicting with each other like this during combat? now that was just going to get someone killed.

So he didn't keep up the fight on the notion of direction, eh? Oh well. One topic of argument down. While he could probably perpetually come up with new points to argue in a given topic, simply out of the depths that his brain sometimes goes to in discovering new options in any given situation, Ba'al hardly expected there to ever be someone possessed simultaneously of the wit and willpower to keep up. One or the other was a periodic occurence, but both? Never. Shame, really. Arguing was such a simple, useful passtime.

Balthazar chuckled lightly when Brady dismissed the notion that his preparatory attitude would get him killed one day. "You say so, lad." That, strangely enough, was one even Ba'al didn't want to touch. The dust itself was irrelevant. It was the notion that the gunner would probably have enough to make it out of here. That probably was good enough. Balthazar knew what he could do, and provided he'd recently replaced the dust crystals, he knew he'd have munition to get himself out of basically any jam. And if that wasn't enough, his capacity to kill what was in his way wasn't limited by munition supply. If this guy couldn't even comprehend that 'probably' just wasn't good enough, then that was one argument that wasn't worth pursuing, even for the sake of argument.

When Brady went off on a small tangent, however, Ba'al remained silent. The tall hunter let the kid finish. As they approached the next branch of choice, Ba'al's long strides carried him directly into the center of the perpendicular section, his back to the open tunnel of the 'right' option. Left hand slipping into his pocket, Ba'al's stance was lazy and relaxed but for his right arm holding the ice dust encased blade away from his leg. He knew what he was doing. Truth told, he hoped something attacked them at this point. Or at least after he, himself had said what he now had to say. Then he'd be able prove what he was about say as the gunman finished. "The simple fact of the matter is: I don't need you." His piercing green eyes glanced over to the faunus girl. "Either of you."

'Any of you.' Was the one part of that thought he neglected to share. He actually found Fei's company agreeable, and had since... about ten minutes after he'd woken up. So he felt no reason to tack that bit on. "I've been a Hunter for no bleedin' less than six years. If the either o'you are even half as inexperienced as you appear, then I'm twice tha ****en' fighter of the both o'yeh combined." His expression was plain, and there was no deception in demeanor or voice, which was kept in an even, factual tone with only Balthazar's natural general gruffness coloring it into what might sound like aggression.

"Your usefulness, or lack thereof, alone or with eachother is irrelevant. You and yer motivations are useless to me." His sword was raised and motioned in the general direction of his chest, the waves of chill air pouring off of it forcing goosebumps to raise on his scarred flesh beneath his shirt. "Barring any ability yeh may have to follow the damned orders I give ya, you'll more than likely only get in me way. So, your best to make it through the next four years unscathed, as yeh say, is to sit back, let someone who's been in ****e such as this before evicerate whatever is in the way, and watch yer own arse." The mounting ice obscuring the gilt blade was then waved in Brady's direction as Balthazar used the tip of his sword as a pointer.

"If you want to exchange statistical pleasantries, lad, that's all well and good, but I suggest we at least do it on the ****in' move." The katana in his right hand once again played the role of indicator as he swept it off to his right, indicating the way forward. At this point, he didn't really care which way they went. Neither of them looked appealing.

"Use...less?" Rachael muttered before looking back at the man behind her. She stared him down with her crimson eyes, looking him over and reading his face. She stared him down not to intimidate, but to analyze. The fact this boy was as ignorant as he was disturbed her greatly, and she intended to point out this out very shortly. Actually, might as well do it now.

"I love how you call us useless with no knowledge about our actual fighting capabilities. We made it into the same academy you did, and just so you know I've been doing this for six years same as you." she said as she turned to face front again, and headed in the direction they 'agreed' on. "You wanna figure out a strategy? Fine. Go ahead. But I'm not taking part in it while this prick is here."

And with that, Rachael walked on ahead of them so now she was the in the front of the group. As she did so, she checked the dust supplies on her gauntlet. They were empty as well, so she decided to fill it back up with momentum dust, or whatever it was called. She didn't care about it right now, much like how she didn't care about any of the others in her group. They were already making her dread her existence, and just the thought of four years with them made her want to vomit.

Aware of the topic and tone her company's conversations took with each other, she wondered now if it was a good idea to stay quiet. The answer came swiftly in the form of Rachael's rebuttal aimed specifically at Balthazar's equally as blunt and mean commentary. Though at first she thought Brady's bringing up the discussion of proper tactics and stratagem for whatever faced them ahead was a good start, it had went down hill when her only partner until now decided to add flavoring to the already spicy dish of relations. Her attention now solely focused on what was going on in front of her, she noticed Rachael had meant what she'd said. In came the breath of damp, musty cave air and out went all of her awkward anxieties as Fei walked past Balthazar and Brady, gesturing with her hand for the both of them to follow. Though she would have left it at that, a thought popped into her head, an idea on a more proper formation. Details aside, she stopped and quickly turned around.

With one hand, she pointed towards Balthazar, and with the other hand she pointed towards Brady. "Protect each other. I will protect Rachael. Sword and Spear will watch over Gunners. We will be partnered until all of this is over so please keep each other within viewing range."

Smiling, she bowed her head slightly before pulling out the metal rod from behind her waist. Spinning it around once, it extended into a spear before Fei turned around to catch up to Rachael whom had stormed down the right tunnel.

Brady had been fairly optimistic that he'd at least have been able to convince his new teammate of the urgency of their situation, and the need to cooperate, at the very least until they were out of the life threatening situation they'd been dropped into.

He was sorely dissapointed. This guy was completely adamant on being difficult, swinging his sword around, trying to look cool, or intimidating or something. The arrogant bravado was practically palpable.
He was likely dissapointed  when Rachael threw more gas on the proverbial fire before marching off down the tunnel without them. They needed to stick together, and these first impressions were certainly not making their future prospects look any brighter
Brady heaved a mental sigh. this was gonna be a long four years.

He was surprised then when the quietest member of their party stepped forward and addressed the situation. Keeping Rachael and Ba'al separate was probably a good thing. For now anyway.
She even smiled! what a lovely change of pace.

"Sounds good." Brady said smiling back at her, all the contention between himself and Ba'al all but forgotten. This wasn't the place to resolve arguments, and they were all right; they needed to keep moving. He took hold of his gun, holding it at ease across his chest as he marched off into the tunnels after them, making sure he was at least close enough to see the girls ahead in the gloom. Having at least one member of the team who was trying to keep them togeher had improved his mood greatly, so much so that he even began to hum a quiet tune as he walked.

It was something of a surprise when the dog girl took up the argument that the gunner was apparently putting down. Didn't matter much to Balthazar, though. Someone to argue with was someone to argue with. This one was even getting amusing. Here she was seemingly trying to compare herself to him. How quaint. Still, it was fuel to the fire that Ba'al welcomed. "Oh," he chuckled as she stormed past him, "So you must be the half, then." Referring to his comment about their inexperience and general demeanors. Which would make Brady the full, but he didn't bother saying that. It was implied.

"Aye, useless. Having no use. In this case, having no use for." He defined and emphasized. "If yeh'd pay attention you'd comprehend, ye daft bint." As he said. He had no use for them. "Your capabilities and presumed experience are meaningless." That, however, was when Fei interrupted, halting Ba'al in his verbal tracks as he looked on at his partner when she walked in between he and the gunman. Her interject would have been an interesting turn of events if she hadn't implied what she did. That he somehow needed protection at the hands of Brady, or that he would bother protecting someone he quite well viewed as expendable.

It was the gunner comment that really got him however. Gunners, specifically. There was only one obvious gunman here. "Lass, what the **** are you on about? She's a sword and a bracer." His argument directed at Rachael seemingly forgotten in that moment as he spun around to look on after Fei as she walked off. He had seen her smile before. It had no effect on him or his speech one way or the other.

Then, of course, said gunner walked past him as well. Well, then.... Tossing his hands up in minor exhasperation he headed back down the tunnel a short ways and slashed one diagonal mark into the corner just before the turn. He didn't like using his sword for this while charging dust as it both wasted a small amount of that which he had charged and risked compromising the structure of the wall, but he had little choice. What choice he did have was to amend his system and only make one grating, echoing slash into each side of the corner. The ice he left behind would remain there for some time, but he'd know which way they went.

Once that was done, his head swiveled around and stared down the 'straight' option. For several moments he considered walking off and leaving them to their own devices. He didn't need them. And they could be heading the wrong way for all they knew. Innumerable threads of thought later, he settled on two things. One: he'd already made his mark indicating the path they'd chosen, and so left his own path improperly and or confusingly marked. Two: he wasn't quite prepared to abandon Fei. If she threw her lot in with them when push came to shove, he would most likely be compelled to sever what minute ties he felt with her and return to his solitude.

However, this was not that time.

Quickening his pace to a fast, long strided walk, Balthazar quickly caught up to Brady... and walked right past him.

When Rachael heard that the girl offered to protect her she didn't respond. She could protect herself just fine and the girl would figure that out soon enough. She didn't feel the need to elaborate on this though, she was starting to realize talking to them would only cause more issues. From then on she decided she'd ignore the others completely as to not cause anymore drama. Rachael wasn't in the mood for it right now.

This was getting boring for her. She really wished something interesting would happen soon. Or even better, they could find the exit and she could be done with these nuisances. She really hoped they would learn to leave her alone. She was already sick of them and was ready to throw up.
