Byron stops his shooting for a moment when he sees Thorn weakening. He disengages his weapon, turning Thanatos back to its standby form and grabbed Thorn, lifting her up in a princess carry. He carries her off, backtracking the way they came and did not stop until they were back at the original cavern.

"Ugh..what-what's happening." Thorn looks over at her leg and notices a small amount of blood trickling out. She thinks to herself. "Right..I've had experiences with things like these. It's probably a venom of some sort... gotta get some herbs, plants or medicine..."

Once they reach the cavern, Byron sets Thorn down carefully and kneels down next to her. He tries to lift up her bitten leg and place his lips over the bite mark and tries to suck out the poison, venom, and dirty blood.

Byron's attempts to suck out the toxin are largely a failure. All he gets is a mouthful of blood. The toxin is too fast acting to be removed by such easy means, and you probably require legitimate medical help.

Right before Thorn passes out she manages to say in a hushed tone. "Medicinal herbs... Plants... I can help you find...." Thorn is cut off as she begins to feel even weaker and passes out.

Byron is in a fairly bad situation. He only had knowledge of survival techniques and medical aid that they had taught in combat school and most of that does not apply to when you're underground. He can't very well carry Thorn around everywhere. The only option he had was to wait for Thorn to regain consciousness. Byron takes another look at his scroll as another message appears warning about eel like grimm and the danger they can cause. "A bit too late for that warning," Byron mumbles.

His partner's life did not seem to be in danger as he checked her vitals, one of the few things her learned regarding medical aid that can be applied down there. Byron resigned knowing his only option was to wait there patiently until his partner awakens.

He had Thanatos ready in weapon form for just in case something decides to visit them while Thorn is vulnerable.

Moments after reading the previous message, Byron gets a new message from the faculty of Beacon.

Attention Byron Hatter.

It has come to our attention that your partner is unconscious, likely from a Toxicanth. We have discovered that people afflicted with Toxicanth poison remain unconscious for up to 72 hours, and as such, are willing to provide immediate medical evacuation for yourself, and your partner. This will exempt you from the remainder of this initiation, and you will still be placed in a team. However, your partner will have to take place in the next initiation in order to be placed in a team. Respond within the next hour, and we will comply with your choice.

Byron stares at the message for a while. He did not want to do this but he had no choice. Thorn required treatment and he was in no place to deny that. He entered his reply calling for that medical aid and sent it with a click. He disengages Thanatos and sits back next to Thorn, waiting for the medics to come and pick them up.

Within 10 minutes of Byron's reply, a trio of medics, very clearly Beacon staff, appears from apparently nowhere. You notice them carrying a stretcher, along with a medkit and a pair of blindfolds. Moving over to Thorn, they cover her eyes with one of the blindfolds before tending to the obvious wound on her leg. Moments later, they move her body on to a stretcher. Two of them begin leading the way out, with the third moving over to Byron.

"Put this blindfold on and grab the back of my shirt." Is her simple demand, holding the blindfold out to him.

Byron does as he was told and allowed the Beacon medical staff to take the lead.
