10 years on the clock [Closed]

Jacob darted after it, snatching up the letter and skimming it quickly. He looked up
"You sure you're ready to go back out there?" he asked, ice begging to form in his stomach at the thought of Hira putting herself in harms way again.

With a loud clack Hira attaches the heavy armor reactor to the back of the harness, the armor rails extending along the clips. "We're being recalled, I can't help it. It's my duty as a huntress." She grumbles as she grabs Convergence.

Jacob sighed, before slipping on his jacket and dragons horn pendant. He reached under the bed and retrieved his light armour, slipping on the vembraces and paldrons over his jacket. Gwyn appeared in the doorway
"What's going on?"

Clipping Convergence onto her belt, Hira kneels down and takes Gwyn by the shoulders. "Me and your dad need to go back down to Vale for a bit, sweety. You'll need to stay with Arnkeiger for a while."

Jacob stood a short distance away, giving the small girl a comforting smile
"It won't be for to long" he promised "bring you back a souvenir" he winked, before walking through into the main chamber and liberating Jernulv from its shelf. It felt good to be taking the ancient weapon for a real fight, as opposed to the odd skirmish on the ice. He flipped the weapon onto his back and adjusted his collar.

With a flourish, Hira stands and throws a larger blood red cloak over her shoulders before grabbing a glowing pair of goggles. "Ready?"

Jacob turned and nodded, taking his plated gloves from his pocket and slipping them on.

Pulling the pair of heavy gloves over her eyes, Hira shakes her hair out of it's ponytail she kept it in and pulls out her heavy combat knife, gathering her long hair in a firm grip before cutting it short. "Can't have that getting caught up in the armor."

Jacob frowned
"I liked it long" he muttered to himself before picking up Toraid and pulling him into a firm hug "don't eat to much" he chuckled, setting the child down and walking towards the door.

Hira smiles sadly as she chucks the bundle of hair into the fire, walking towards the door when the room starts to smell like burnt crackers. "I sure hope they have transport figured out for us. The Hammerhawk needs repairs. Oh! We should freak out the newbies, maybe do an aerial deployment!" She exclaims, her previous sadness and anger forgotten.

"Sounds good to me" Jacob grinned "could use the warm up" he tugged the door open and made a gesture with his free hand "after you."

Kokkino bolts out the door between them, flailing around as she tries to secure the straps for her thruster pack.

Hira blinks a few times as the Maneuver Fighter dashed between them. "Well that was unexpected. But Silfurion is likely waiting in a transport for us, so yeah, let's do the drop." She says as she steps outside into the fresh morning air.

Rolling his shoulders like a boxer, Jacob followed, pulling the heavy wooden door closed behind them and crunching out onto the snow. Taking Hira's hand in his and offering her a cocky grin.

A smile crosses Hira's face as she looks up towards the transport gunship hovering over the village, a rope ladder leading up to the troop transport crate. "Well, up we go." She says as they near the ladder.

Jacob clambered up the ladder, with speed belying his newfound bulk. He clambered inside the troop bay and awaited Hira's arrival, eyeing up the other passengers with a stony, unrelenting glare.

Hira pulls herself up into the troop bay moments later, her face taking a well practiced blank look. "Silfurion." She grumbles as she nods to the sniper standing at one side of the bay.

Jacob followed Hira's gesture, before baring his teeth at a brute of a youth giving them a dirty glare. The man in question hastily corrected his gaze and fixed it on his shoes.

Hira glances around before reeling up the ladder and slamming the track door shut. "Anybody have any idea why they need to recall war vets like us?"

Nobody answered. Jacob gritted his teeth
"I don't like this" he growled "why the deception?"

A low rumble comes from the immense hovercraft as it began it's trip back to Beacon. "Well I'm taking a nap. Don't wake me up unless we're there." Hira mutters as she sits heavily in a padded seat, her pantleg pulling up enough to reveal her bionics as she closed her eyes.

Jacob took the seat next to her, folding his arms across his chest and closing his eyes.

Silfurion taps both of their shoulders as the hoverjet passes over Vale. "Come on, it's time to drop soon." He grumbles as Kokkino walks over to the side door, her thruster pack flaring up.
Hira quickly wakes up and stands, her armor forming around her with a loud grinding.

Jacob straightened up and rolled his shoulders, his aura beginning to glow an icy blue, the intention being to jump without a chute or pack. He took his spot in the line, making room for Hira in front of him.

Kokkino pulls the sliding door open, the wind howling around them as the hoverjet began to approach Beacon. She made the motions with her hand to bail soon, closing her hand into a fist before crossing her arms over her chest and jumping out.
Silfurion launches himself forwards, his rifle in his arms as he extends it to full firing length.
With a loud shout, Hira initiates the dust reactor and runs towards the opening, jumping into the open air right as the exhausts on her armor start to belch smoke.

Jacob took a small run up before launching himself through the hatch. The wind whistled past his ears, ruffling his hair and tugging at his jacket. He Spun, angling himself straight downwards, howling as he rocketed towards the city below.

All the members of their small squad prepare for impact, readying varying methods of landing. Hira does a frontflip and angles her legs downwards while Silfurion does the same, Kokkino just using her thrusters.
Three living missiles impact with the Beacon Courtyard throwing up a cloud of dust. A few screams come from bystanders and some draw their weapons.

Jacob slammed into the ground with a crash, the concrete cracking under the force. The wolf threw his head back and unleashed a deafening howl, before straightening up and brushing off the dust.
"That'll never get old" he grinned, looking at the worried faces of the public.
