Kingdom of Madness; Day 1

Rosa walked into her decrepit looking room and sat in one of the crappy wooden chairs in the corner. She then sighed as she ran her finger over the jagged leg of the chair earning herself a splinter. She held her finger closely taking out the microscopic piece of wood. She then looked around the room noting a large hole in the wall. She then looked at her bed, which was even worse than the chair. She then sighed again as she moved to go lay down. As she lay down on the bed, she felt one of the springs from the mattress pressing into her back and she groaned. She then suddenly screamed out loud, "THIS PLACE IS BOOOORING AS HELL!"

Byron lay on his room's bed, resting the back of his head on his arms. He stared up at the ceiling with a smile on his face, not a hint of distaste in his expression.

"This is going to be fun..."

Within an uttermost silence, the lilac-eyed crossbreed simply stood toward the center of her own room, the sound of the door closing behind her causing both feline auds of hers to twitch ever so slightly. A glance would be given toward both corners of the room, toward the hole and the bed, before she finally took notice of the one thing that looked of decent quality; the armchair afar. With a sudden, faint hint of stress she sealed both voids of hers, quietly cursing beneath her breath in Mandarin. I guess that's what she meant by a reward... the lass would think to herself, simply glaring across and at the seating before her. God, damn it...I gotta find some way to tell Matthews about what happened...some way, God knows what, God knows how... Feeling rather uneasy from the remembrance of the earlier instance, she gave a loud sigh in attempt to relieve herself. Of course she would fail at doing so, and simply opened both opticals and cast a somewhat stressed gaze toward the western flank.

That would be the moment that she saw the little communication link, just within the corner behind the sector door. Looking toward the chamber seal to ensure that nobody was walking around outside, she turned heel and silently walked over toward the earpiece's location. Crouching down, she picked both the device and the note up. After reading it she remained silent, only ending this little trance with another sigh as she carefully shifted the comm link into the left human auditory. For safety measures, she fully concealed it underneath ebony-violet locks of hers before taking a seat on the chair. The left extremity would lift, the index and middle fingers joining together and pressing a button on the link in order to enable any communicated words to be heard. "Hey?" she would say as if testing the device. Glancing back toward the door, she fully lifted her whole figure upon the chair, hugging both knees toward her chest and placing her face between the 'crevice' created by it before going on, just to get the sort of 'insane and insecure' type of aura that one would feel when having encountered someone who...say, constantly talked to themselves. Her profile for this apparently did say that she had a tendency to speak to herself; may as well make use of it. "Anyone there, yet?"

Schrödinger swung the door to his room open and gleefully said "Fräulein, I'm home!" Not caring that there was no-one else in the room, he just enjoyed the saying. He looked around the room after closing the door behind him, noticing the "toilet" and bed, surprisingly, Schrödinger was not that affected by it, he had been homeless for most of his life, the fact that the building had a roof was still an improvement to what he was used to. He caught sight of the earpiece from the corner of his eye and walked over to it before picking it up. He lifted the bangs of hair from the right side of his face and popped the earpiece into his human ear, letting his hair fall back over it to make sure it was hidden. He heard the sound of Chelsea's voice coming through the earpiece and grinned. Laying down on the uncomfortable bed, arms behind his head he replied "Ah, is zis ze delightful Fräulein zat I have ze pleasure of sharing zis mission vith?"

The bland texture and dim lighting of the hallway gave a vaguely familiar feeling to Celeste. It looked similarly enough to the asylum she was at except in the fact that it looked decades older. Not wanting to linger on memories any longer, Celeste heads for the room assigned to her only to be faced with an even more depressing sight. The room was generic save for the hole in the wall which was more medieval than it was unsightly, the bed looked uncomfortable and sitting on it proved her point. Placing the bag beside her Celeste starts pondering on how familiar this all was to her. The room, the hallway, the staff, despite knowing how different it was it still brought undesired feelings and memories back to her, as if she was tossed back into the past. Suddenly getting a headache, Celeste clenches her teeth and closes her eyes for a second after imagining what she saw to be oil covering the floor and walls and a quick glimpse of a grasshopper head. Shaking it off she opens her eyes again to see that everything was back to normal, well as normal as this place can be. Sighing at her prospective temporary home, she decides to lay down on the bed for a few minutes, maybe even try to think of a way out.

Kail walked into his room calmly, the sound of the door shutting reverberating around the room as he sighed, and peered to the near-hidden earpiece, his faunus ears twitching as they picked up tiny voices coming from it. He slid his bag across the room to by the device, giving him reason to walk over and crouch down, looking like he was rummaging through his bag, when he was actually picking up his earpiece and tucking it in his ear, and restyling his hair to cover both human ears, sitting on the bed. He slid to laying on the bed and said in a hushed tone "Check, anyone listening?"

An awkward silence would reply to Schrodinger's question at first; primarily due to the fact the girl appeared to be slightly caught of guard, and was also somewhat confused at what the voice had answered to her with. From within her chambers she opened her mouth, though hesitated for a moment and simply sealed her lips once more after scratching the current reply that she had whipped up to rest. Rather than the initial reply she was about to say, she took a deep breath. "Er...yes?" she would say in response to the younger lad, her voice raising the volume as she said 'yes' due to an unsureness of what else she was to say.

It was then that another voice caught her ears; the sound of her mission partner. She thought for a moment as to whether or not she should go on, seeing as one of the four members she had been bound to seemed to be currently absent, though she decided to proceed onward for the time being. "Slight problem. So...that Alice bitch lady..." she began, seemingly oblivious of the language that she had used at that moment, "...I think that she may know about Matthews. Apparently I guided her to his knowledge, but I have no idea in Hell's name how I did that. I pretty much haven't said a word about the mission ever since we left the building, and...well, until we got hold of our earpieces." She paused, adjusting her position upon her seat. "I dunno how in the Hell we'll do it, but we gotta either find some way to contact Matthews, or finish this thing up a bit quicker than we expected to."

Zwei had finally entered his room and took in the beaten atmosphere. "Y'know, it would have been nice to at least leave me a bottle of moonshine!" Zwei called out to no-one and waited for a moment before continuing. "Or at least make it a little more welcoming" Zwei almost sounded depressed for a moment before tossing his things onto his bed and throwing himself onto the bed after them and relaxing a little, trying to take in what has happened this day.

Kail sighed, nodding in agreement, although she couldn't see him "Don't worry yourself about it. As soon as we do what we have to do, we'll sort everything out. That Alice character must have contacts high up..." he surmised, before saying "I could think of several people better than us for this."

Gingerly, Lí steps into his room, taking care to not aggravate the hole in his chest. As he steps past the door and starts to swing it shut behind him, a small series of sounds catch his ear, and he finds himself looking back at the door, upon which an earpiece is taped, with a note. Not wanting to draw further attention to himself with the small piece of technology, in addition to desiring a modicum of rest (which the pittance of a bed didn't look like it would afford him), he carefully reaches behind his head and pulls his hair free of the tail he usually wears it in.

Following this action, he grabs the earpiece and puts it in place, just managing to catch the last of Chelsea's statements, as well as Kail's follow up. "Somebody... set us up..." he says, breath still short in his attempts to keep the pain away. He hisses for a brief moment as he draws in too much air, then continues, "Either... Matthews... or someone... unng... working with him."

Kail sighed as he heard Lí, relieved he's still alive, but saddened by how he said they were set up, as well as his condition "Agreed, there's a traitor amongst the detectives....good to hear you're alive too, too bad I couldn't heal you." and he paused for breath, before continuing "We need a strategy to break out and survive. Any ideas?"

Wearing a somewhat exhausted, defeated grin over on her end of things, the ebon-haired lass shook her head while unfolding from her position the slightest bit. She then progressed to leap from the chair, waltzing over to the bed off in the corner and sprawling herself across it instead. "Please don't somehow, accidentally bust that wound of yours further..." the crossbreed began in a quiet, concerned tone, directing her comment toward Li. Once this was said she would take a noticeable shift in topic, following suit on Kail's questions. "Anyways...maybe we could try taking out those in charge of this whole thing? Meaning Alice and anyone else in high rank. We do have our weapons, but I suppose that we shouldn't just go in with guns blazing; especially since we can't do anything for backup plans should our weapons go out of commission, since our semblances and aura are basically locked..." Pausing, she breathed a semi-heavy sigh. "I'm sure that we'll be able to survive a little while here, so...should we just lay low for a while and do a bit of recon? Maybe prioritize finding a way to get these bracelets off. I'm sure that if we found some way to get these things off of our wrists, calling jailbreak out of here alongside the rest of the people here would be a lot easier..."

Kail smiles, replying to Chelsea "Agreed, learn what we can, break our wristbands, take out the warden and her lackeys, and get out of here." and he looked through his bag once more, checking to see if he missed anything.

"Which of you... got a note?" Lí asks, running his mind through past knowledge despite the haze of pain clouding it. Looking to keep the remainder of his attention away from the hole sending pain searing through his chest, he gives his room a closer inspection, deciding to leave the hole in the floor for last.

Naught more than a poorly maintained excuse of a living space, to his eyes. "So uncivilized..." he whispers, noticeably disgusted by the state of disrepair. Once he reaches the vending machine, however, his look turns to one of curiosity and confusion. In comparison to the rest of the room, the contraption is in pristine condition. He looks over the machine, identifying the contents as he scans through it.

As Li inspects the machine, a compartment at the top opens, and a small camera appears.
It snaps a quick photo of Li, and disappears.
As it does, another compartment on the side opens, and out comes a screen.

"You have been Identified as prisoner Li Cadmus."

After that, a few menu options appear, and another slot for what looked like a Lien card opens.

"Check Balalance.
Check Available Stock
Purchase"

On the side of those, a message pops up.

"As this is your first day in Cysoph, we highly recommend you read our instruction manual to survival. First time readers may purchase the booklet for 150 points. If you lose it, it will cost you 200 to get a new one."

Kail shook his head, sighing as he pulled out the card like device from the bag "No....." and he took a glance at the machine "Anyone else see a sort of...vending machine in their room? Like....contrasting the room, it's relatively not beat up." and he slid off the bed, walking up to the machine to look over what's in it.

Kail receives the same welcoming from the machine as Li does, only it uses his name instead of Li's.

((OOC, forgot to mention in prev post, but I won't be posting the manual in the thread. If you buy it, I'll PM it to you.))

Kail quickly moved his hands to his eyes as a flash engulfed his vision "Gah....warning to people with enhanced eyesight, it flashes, that machine...." and he rubbed his eyes until he could see clearly again, reading the message and blinking, before inserting the card to check the balance on it, before pressing the button for the survival manual to Cysoph.

The machine would show that he had 200 points. After buying the manual, he would have only 50.
A small pamphlet dropped out of the vending machine.

Kail took his card back, wondering how one acquires points, and picks up the Pamphlet, beginning to read through it as he thinks 'What else is there to purchase in an illegal asylum town...hmm....' and he sits in a chair after deeming it clean to sit.

After hearing two of the other three on the communication link, the girl blinked, hauling herself upward and into a sitting position. Lilac voids would shift curiously around the room, eventually coming across a machine of sorts toward the opposite end of the chambers. Faunus auds flickering a tad, she slowly got to her feet and trekked over to it. "...So this thing flashes?" she muttered, looking at the device with interest and curiosity all the same. Having transferred her little card from earlier, she slid her hand within one of her jeans' pockets, grasping hold of hers and holding it before her eyes as if in examination.

Shrugging, she began to progress to slide the card within the necessary slot, though stopped short as, true enough, a flash of light blinded her for the quickest moment. Caught off guard by the action --- despite Kail's warning --- she simply stood there for a second or so, rubbing her eyes as well as the bridge of her nose as she tried to gain her vision back. Once she had succeeded in doing so she sighed in some annoyance from the event, shaking her head and going on to slide her card within the necessary slot.

Noticing the text displayed upon the screen, following unknowingly in the other two's steps as she checked the card balance. While registering the amount of points she had, she gave a low mutter before fiddling around with the screen a tad, eventually going on to purchase her own little manual. Both hybrid ears of hers would twitch at the sound of something dropping, her gaze lowering down toward the sector of the device that caught the purchased object. Crouching down, she reached in, grasping hold of the small book before walking back over to the chair. Taking a seat on it, she opened the pamphlet and began to read for a little while. Here's to hoping there's actually gonna be some useful things in here...

Cheslea would find upon checking her balance, that she in fact had 600 points, instead of the 200.

After lying down for a good amount of time, Celeste tries to stave of her boredom by looking for something to do before just noticing the blinking contraption in her midst. Lifting her head from the poor excuse of a bed, she spots a vending machine lying against the wall. Just what is a contraption like that doing in my room? After lifting herself from her place of rest, Celeste brushes her hair back before walking towards the machine, noticing a small slit in which a card could be placed. Why is there a slit there? We don't have any money wit.... wait. Going back to her bed she opens the small bag that was given to them earlier and finds a card inside, realizing that it may be used to use the machine. Not bothering to go through the trouble of reading the display, Celeste inserts the card while wondering what the machine was for.

Schrödinger had been listening to the other's conversations and discoveries of the vending machines and cards. He looked over at his own and thought for a bit It's a bit new, isn't it? He eventually shrugged it off and reached into his own bag, retrieving his card and looking at it, flipping it over in his hand a few times. Eventually he stood up and walked over to the machine, as the compartment flipped open and flashed, he grinned at it, due to prior warning over the headset, from what he heard about it, he reckoned it was a camera or something. When the slot opened up, he inserted his card in it, quickly scrolling through the menus and selecting purchase on the survival manual, as it dropped from the bottom of the machine, he reached down and lifted it up in his hand, he opened it as he walked back to his bed, reading it along the way, when he bumped his knees against the bed, he looked past the manual to see the bed, laying down on it he spoke up "So... A survival manual, vat a luxury" he said in a slightly sarcastic tone, he himself wasn't even sure if it was a luxury or not, but he knew he should read it so that's what he did, he layed back on his bed and continued flipping through the pages, trying to pick up information about the place he was in.

When Kail had finished reading the.manual, he sighed and looked around the room once again, to check if there wad anything he missed. "Read the survival manual yet?" he asked, getting up and pacing the room.

"As we speak," Chelsea replied, her eyes still glued to the text within the pamphlet all the while. Narrowed voids followed along the mini-sized text with such ease and not much stress, causing her look like she was reading a good book, rather than something that could potentially save her life. "...I dunno about you guys, but I can already find myself breaking that one about the bracelets. God knows how, God knows when; but I'll be doing that anyways in the next few days, probably." Lifting her eyes from the manual at last, the crossbreed gave a quiet sigh, shutting the book and lightly tossing it over her shoulder and onto the bed afar. "But...there's one thing that I'm a bit uneasy about..."

Eventually Kail lay once again on the bed, and sighed "I know." before continuing "We'll...cross that particular hurdle when we get to it."
