CHARACTER

Name: Zack Konds

Age: 17 (born July 25th)

Gender: Male

Appearance: Though Zack's ethnic background is mostly black, his eyes appear much thinner than most people of his race. His eyes are a deep shade of green, almost jade in their appearance. His curly hair is a dark brown, so dark that it is just a few shades away from jet black. His hair is rather untidy, curling and winding around itself to form an often unkempt afro, rising to about 5 inches from the top of his scalp. He is of an average build, possessing no great quantity of muscle for his height (6' 1"), yet at 175 pounds he is not thin enough to make his body seem stretched. When not fully dressed, he usually prefers not to wear a shirt. At all other times he wears a black tee shirt underneath a long, jet black duster coat with the collar turned upwards. Several gray straps and belts wind and buckle around his coat in order to hold his tremendous weapon securely. He wears similarly dark pants with white socks and comfortable black shoes (Something like Vans). He does not enjoy adorning himself with unnecessary accessories, but wears a band on his right ring finger made of obsidian etched with characters written in white: "火炮". At almost any moment, Zack can also be seen with a small device strapped to the underside of his left forearm. Originally designed by his friend as a means of dispensing throwing knives and shuriken, Zack re-purposed it to dispense the cookies he bakes in his spare time. The dispenser can launch the cookies up to 5 meters and holds up to 8 cookies.

Personality: Though Zack's appearance may denote a mysterious, collected individual, Zack is just the opposite. He is always at one extreme of the emotional spectrum. At times he is energetic and loud (especially when he knows he's going into a fun fight) while other times he seems to ignore the outside world and mumble to himself about various inner ramblings. These dramatic changes in his personality can often make it difficult for him to talk with "normal" people, but he generally dislikes people who are restrictive of others and give in to social norms. His personality has proven to be a useful tool on the battlefield: In several instances his increased energy has caused his body to randomly produce adrenaline, allowing for faster reactions, less pain felt, and harder hits. Zack has a hard time adjusting to new people, as he doesn't always know how to act around everyone he meets. Once he has decided that someone is his genuine friend, however, he will always be willing to open himself up to them and will defend their lives with his own. One of Zack's personality flaws is that he has a hard time understanding the limits of others. He knows that his place in a group will never be the leader, as he's much better at following orders than devising plans and figuring out who can execute them. Zack sticks firmly to his morals, never hiding who he is, and always opposing those whose ideals he sees as evil or misguided.

History: When he was young, Zack had little opportunity to learn the ways of the great hunters and huntresses who populated the world. He was told stories of some of their great exploits, but was never able to experience anything outside simple life in his town. As time went on, however, Zack became increasingly engrossed in following the hunter's path. He would spend hours learning how to construct devices which worked similar to those used by famous hunters and began leaving town for weeks at a time to train himself to master the mysterious "aura" he had heard referenced in so many tales of his childhood. When he had become good enough at tinkering and crafting, he began to sell his works; at first for meager sums, but soon making more and more cash. Eventually, Zack was able to convince his parents to send him away to Signal, where he would be able to truly master the techniques he had worked so hard to learn and become a real hunter. Zack made his way through the school, becoming stronger and stronger over the years, working hard and facing many challenges until he was finally able to make his way into Beacon academy, where he is currently a student.

Strength: Zack's greatest strength is his ability to enhance his body through the use of aura. He has adapted to its use in such a way that allows him to swing his heavy weapon many times without incurring much fatigue. By actively employing his aura, he can increase his muscle strength while increasing his speed and perception. This power is amplified when he is emotionally excited, especially when he is angry. His long history of tinkering has made him very good at working with his hands and analyzing weapons and complex machinery.

Weakness: Zack's aura has direct links to his emotional state. When he is distracted or unwilling to fight, its power decreases significantly. Because of this volatile nature, his aura can end up being an unreliable tool. Though his weapon can use several types of dust, Zack has almost no understanding of dust beyond this basic set. He can't distinguish one kind of dust from another without seeing it in action. This often leaves him in a bad position against opponents whose fighting styles involve the use of heavy amounts of different types of dust.

WEAPON

Name: Volc-Cannus Mk II

Primary Form: A massive greathammer standing just above 5'8" with a thick cylindrical shaft about 5 inches in radius. Two handles are attached to the shaft so that the hammer can actually be held and swung in a similar fashion to a battering ram or as a normal great hammer. Has the ability to channel dust poured in from the second form into from the mechanism in the head of the hammer. For example: Volc-Cannus is switched to second form where ice dust is inserted in. It is then switched back into the primary form and used for a horizontal swing after ice dust has been switched into it. The hit connects with the target and sends it flying. Not only would the target receive a blow from the hammer itself, but If the handles were turned, target would then be encased in ice and immobilized as it was sent through the air.

Secondary Form/Function: The Volc-Cannus' cannon form. When changed into this form the base of the shaft opens up and a thin wire is released from a point where the head of the hammer connects with the shaft head of the hammer shifts open, revealing a revolver mechanism with the ability to load one of up to 6 canisters of dust into the cannon. For the convenience of the user, placing the head of the hammer on the ground in this form causes When entered into cannon form spikes protrude from the head, rooting the cannon to the ground. The staff expands to a radius of 5 inches, forming the cannon's barrel. The handles can then be removed from the main body still attached by 2 cables which control aim and fire of the cannon. Once the cannon has been loaded and angled, the wire can be pulled to The cannon can fire ammunition up to 400 meters (can only fire to a range of 200 meters with regular accuracy). Thanks to the genius design of the Volc-Cannus, heat from the discharge of ammunition is almost instantly dissipated into the air, making it possible to immediately shift back into the first form for use as a melee weapon safely. The engine in the head, combined with the framing of the weapon negates a decent amount of recoil generated from firing.

History: The Volc-Cannus is an original design by Zack Konds. After studying the legendary weapons of several renowned hunters, he decided that larger, more powerful weapons fit his tastes best. Zack realized that even the most powerful of melee weapons generally lost their brute-force edge when transformed into a ranged form. In order to combat this loss of strength, he developed a weapon with a second form even more deadly than the first. Though it costs significantly more time to set up than most weapons, Zack believes the resulting power is worth it. The Volc-Cannus has been used several times for effects other than shattering through foes. Firing a shot without loading the cannon can result in heavy recoil. When held by the user in such times, it can propel them forward, causing the hammer's head to smash directly into anything in its path. Volc-Cannus was certainly not created with finesse or style in mind, as it is a pure force weapon. Its moveset in that regard is limited, making it easy to predict regardless of the user. Still, if one hit connects it is usually enough to stagger or cripple the opponent, making progressive attacks against the same target easier and easier. Zack went through several phases of development, having to start from scratch on 2 separate occasions, when the recoil and blast of the cannon completely destroyed his workspace and many of his materials. The gold plating used to create the Volc-Cannus is actually a modified and reinforced version of traditional platinum. Its ability to disperse heat and impact makes it close to indestructible under normal circumstances as well as extremely valuable. Should the amount used in the Volc-Cannus be sold, it could easily fetch a price worth almost an entire year's tuition at Beacon Academy. That being said, it was incredibly difficult to acquire, costing years of dedication and lots of connections. It is Zack's most prized possession and he would never consider selling or stripping it for any reason.

Beacon History: Once at Beacon, Zack's weapon underwent many changes when his friend, Jet Nadapil, redesigned it. Jet's new design fixes many old problems, such as the dust corroding on the cannon's barrel if fired with only dust. Various cosmetic changes were also created, including the addition of fins to the back of the head, tendrils around the staff, engraving of Zack's symbol and the weapon's name, and enlargement of the head in order to fit the revolver system as well as the new engine. In addition, Jet added a feature similar to one in his own weapon, Paladin, which allows the weapon to synchronize with Zack's aura, giving him higher coordination when wielding it, as if it were thinking alongside him.

Great character! I really love your weapon name. Very cool!

The only thing that bothers me here is the the range of the cannon form of your weapon seems really long. If its unreasonable to use it at short ranges that'd be fine, but perhaps making it a little bit shorter range would be good. Also, I'm having a little bit of difficulty believing a single weapon has such a huge value! I'll let you keep this part but you should play that out in plots/events that its extremely valuable and its probably a bad idea to let your eyes off it or something like that.

Alright, just edited it a bit. The range was a bit long, I just used the range of an actual cannon for reference. Also changed the pricing so it's still expensive, but not worth more than anyone would ever make in a lifetime. Can't wait to get on and start meeting everyone! Very Happy

Approved! I edited your cannon range for you to make it a bit longer. While 1600 meters is too long, I feel bad about only 200 meters. Razz

List of changes:

Added Mk II to name

Hammer form: Staff thickness changed to more normal greathammer dimensions. Expands in cannon form to meet original dimensions. Now synchronizes with Zack’s aura, allowing for increased coordination when wielding. Engine added inside head of hammer. “Revving” handles causes weapon to swing itself with increased power. Cannon form is now entered by pulling on handles, also causes rooting spikes to extend.

Cannon form: Handles disengage from main staff, becoming simple controls to aim and fire cannon. Head contains 6-capacity revolver system to load dust into cannon quickly. Engine and framing now significantly reduce recoil of cannon. Problem with dust corroding on edges of barrel solved. Revert to hammer form by placing handles back in appropriate location.

Cosmetic changes: Fins spiking out from back of hammer’s head, tendrils extending around shaft. More detail and designs added to head of hammer. Larger head, emblem + name engraving. Handles on shaft now serve motor function.
