Assignment: Defeat the Targets! (0/2) [Closed]

Arthur could see and hear they had become aware of his and Tim's presence, he became completely still and completely silent a mild state of panic had ensued, he looked over to Tim to see if he'd noticed, he couldn't tell the robotic giant didn't give much away by his appearance.

Now Arthur was faced with a small dilemma. Does he out himself now, which he could see no real reason not to, other than it wouldn't be as fun. Or he risk getting caught and potentially harmed.

He chose option one, but first he through the shrubbery he got Tim's attention and signalled for him to stay put at least for a little bit, with that he stood up sheathing his sword up at the same time. Then started to walk out of his hiding spot with his arms raised. "Okay, okay, okay. He caught me." Arthur had a sly smile on his face as he revealed himself. He stopped walking in the middle of some kind of courtyard in the ruins, very much in the open, but not where he could break line of sight with Tim.

Natalie's eyes were constant flipping between Matt and the area she heard the noise come from. Her mind jumped around just as much to what the source of the sound could be. 'Could it be a grimm?' She quickly dismissed the idea, knowing that no grimm could make a sound like a scroll. That meant it had to be human.

Natalie did as Matt commanded, staying very still, but very ready in case of any kind of real trouble. She nodded her head as he spoke, still dead still as he also scanned the trees.

When the tall blonde guy stood out of the brush, Natalie was startled slightly, pulling her knife part way out of its sheath. Slowly she stood up, knife still partially out. She was worried about the situation in general, namely because she's never dealt with a situation like this before. "And you are?"

As the tall figure emerged from the trees, Matt shifted his Scroll into his jacket pocket, a hand clutching the grip of his tonfa at the sudden appearance from the brush as the figure sheathed his weapon. The tall blonde looked fitting with the ruins they stood in; his various protective plates and chain mail looking well maintained. As Natalie questioned the suspect, Matt would look around behind him a moment for anything out of the ordinary.

Spying nothing that raised any suspicion, he eased up a little bit, but his right hand continued to baby the grip of his weapon as the smirking blonde approached them with hands in the air. The sound of ringing had came from him, admitting being caught by the two as he entered the courtyard. The assignment would be put on hold a moment as Matt would let the Faunus interrogate the stranger, still looking around the surrounding area of the courtyard for anything; another person, cameras, a crew, a news team.... For all he knew, maybe this was an elaborate hoax for an assignment, or another one of those psyche missions to gauge their mental ability.

Arthur had taken due note of the pair he was confronted with and sized them up appropriately, he then shrugged and lowered his arms. "I am the spirit who guards this place, now leave Or I will have to end your life." He pauses and gives them both the most serious look he can muster. He waits for tensions to rise between the three of them, before he starts laughing. after a short time. "Ahhh, no, I'm here on an assignment from Beacon." Arthur was careful not to mention his partner who he hoped was still hidden.

He then walks over to one of the collapsed half walls he could sit on, "But why are you guys here? Don't tell me we're on the same assignment? Arthur sighs, "Well whatever, it's nice to meet you. I'm Arthur." he offers a more friendly smile to the girl who had questioned him.

As the blonde began to speak from Natalie's confrontation, he could feel his skin crawl as the spirit sized them up. The creepy feeling all made sense now as they had entered the ruins, the armored knight a lone spirit left to defend these ruins from those who seeked to unearth it's secrets. He'd feel his heart race as his breath quicken, buying into Arthur's facade as the tall figure demanded them to leave...

Matt's legs trembled beneath his slightly baggy jeans, knees locking as his feet froze from the spirits threat. The corporeal knight had a very lifelike appearance as he sized them up with his superior height. His stern expression and serious tone had only drove the point home that they had been assigned to a very grave task at had from Beacon-- annoying spirits of a haunted ghost village was the last thing he wanted to do just for a grade! Laughing nervously, his hands would come up slowly in surrender as the tension rose from the other's grave demand, taking two slow steps back toward the path as he replied, "Alright ghost-- I, uh, mean spirit... guy... dude..."

He wasn't aware of how to even begin speaking to the undead, nor if any of his words would offend it and send the spirit into a fit of rage for desecrating the supposedly sacred ruins. Matt simply just laughed it off as he tried to calm his breath, a third step taken backwards as he moved his hands up and down. "We didn't mean-"

The knight's sudden fit of boisterous laughing had startled Matt slightly, bringing arms up defensively. His tension would slowly subside into slight embarrassment before a sigh of relief and chuckle at the others antics: he definitely fell for the others facade. As he spoke, Matt's face soon lit up in surprise about the mention of the assignment, looking to Natalie before turning back to Arthur.

Beacon had sent him... alone? Something didn't quite add up with his story, especially if both he and Natalie had been asked to survey an area... Could this have been in error? Or even... a reassignment of some sort for their team? Maybe this Arthur person was a new member of KRMN without his knowledge... Lifting his hand to introduce himself, he'd say "Matt." before sinking back into silence in thought. As Arthur took a seat on a low wall, Matt would relax a bit and lean his back against a cracked pillar, fishing in his pocket for his Scroll again.

The map looked like it hadn't budged much at all, offering just a few pixels more of the area as it continued to load.

Natalie wasn't amused with the joke coming from the tall blonde man. 'What kind of threat is that? A ghost? What a load of crap.' Natalie was not amused. It was easy to see that he was just as real as she was. She slowly stood up, face still scowling at him some, noticing that Matt's leg was starting to shake. 'You've got to be kidding me...' She was about to slap Matt in the back of the head, hitting her own squad mate instead of the 'ghost' causing the problem.

Walking up behind Matt, she punched him in the arm as the blonde man started to crack up. "Way to go." She half snarled at him, walking between him and man that revealed himself to be a student. Not even thinking of why a single student would be out alone on a mission, she crossed her arms when addressing him. "How about you tell us first. Don't really appreciate someone following me around." She didn't even bother with giving him a name, obviously not amused with the current events, returning Arthur's smile with just a continuous scowl.

Arthur immediatly decided he liked Matt, he could take a joke. Not this girl though, she was just mean.

"Tell you what? Why I'm here?" He continued "Because, honestly I couldn't tell you even if I wanted to, love. I was just told to head to some map coordinates and here I am, hiding in some bushed all on my own. Waiting for something important to happen, which is didn't and then you found me." Arthur took his scroll out his pocket and studied it for a brief moment only to be disappointed by the lack of information is was giving him.

"Oh yeah I almost forgot something." Arthur gets up from his perch, goes back a way to where he thought Tim was still hiding and calls "Tim, it's cool now, you can come out now!" Arthur turned back to the pair he was just talking to, waiting for Tim to make his approach and gives the girl a sly wink as he waits for his giant to arrive.

Tim stood up and began moving out. His big metal feet clashing into the ground as he move. Thunderous steps as he moved closer. His reflective body shined from the sun. He closed in where Arthur was and stopped. With a booming thud. He stood taller then all the others there, and was with out a doubt the biggest there. He just stood there and watched them.

Lifting a hand to comfort the area Natalie nailed him, he'd tense up with an "Ow~" as he rubbed the area gingerly. The ferret's furious nature could be felt, almost making him second guess who he was dealing with as he looked for the tell tale sign of that white hair as she blew past him. Behind her back, he'd stick his tongue out with a disgusted look, folding his arms as he looked away from the two. 'I can't help it he was convincing enough... Sure looked the part.'

As Arthur spoke back up, Matt would snap from his displeased took and light back up as the assignment was mentioned. "Oh! What a coincidence!" The potential that this knight was apparently going to be a new teammate excited him, even if he had jumped the gun on the idea that this was some form of reassignment. He was definitely going to be a lot more fun than Natalie was... maybe wouldn't even hit him for falling for things, or doing something wrong!

Thunderous steps would soon grab his attention as the tall figure appeared from Arthur's callout. The  odd reflection off his form made him lift an eyebrow as Tim's figure emerged from hiding and into the open, a watchful look on his face as he towered over them. Looking up, he'd open his eyes a little wider than usual at the sight-- Arthur's height was a normal sight for him, but this Tim figure dwarfed all of them. After a bit of gawking, he'd lift a friendly hand up at him, breaking silence with a "Hello... Tim. What's up, big guy?"

He'd give a friendly grin, open to the idea of meeting two other people. Maybe the four of them were going to be a new team after all-- it did concern him that something may have happened to his two other teammates, but the green eyed human seemed approachable enough of the two as he continued. "So... how long have you two been out here?"

Tim looked at his hand and slowly shook it with his own hand which almost hid Matt's head if need be. "Greetings." He said and when He spoke up again Tim bellowed something in his metallic voice. "Approximately three hours." He stated as his eyes scanned the two of them.

Arthur's explanation was more than unsatisfying, promoting a "Hump" from the ferret faunus. Natalie turned back around when she heard the chipper voice of Matt behind her. "What the hell, Matt? Someone was just stalking us, don't be happy about tha-." Natalie gave a jump when she heard an unnatural sound coming out from where Arthur was hiding.

Turning to see a large, robotic man walking down to join Arthur at his side. 'Well that's... something...' She could only stare a bit at the huge brute. She was even a little more dumbfounded as Matt walked up to the both of them. 'Why is he so trusting of strangers...' she thought with a grimace.

She winced a little as the robot showed off its booming voice, her ears being a little more sensitive than a normal humans, holding her hands over them. "Ouch! Is there some kind of volume dial on that thing?" She had slowly started towards the group, still cautious to the new comings, and Matt's friendliness. "Then... why the hell are we even out here?"

Arthur walked to stand by Tim, leaning against the giant lightly. "Yeah, it does seem like we've been out here a while doesn't it Tim?" Arth says, straining his neck to look up at his team mate. Upon hearing the girls question Arthur was quick to reply;  "I don't know, I assume we would have been told by now, wouldn't you? Is something supposed to happen? Did you two find anything here before we arrived that could at least give us some kind of clue?" Arthur looked question serious with his barrage of questions he fired at the other team, not once giving them a chance to answer or even catch a breath.

Tim soon covered Arthurs mouth. "Statement: Queries to immediate, requires time to compile answers." He said in his monotone voice. He looked to the two across them and waited for them to reply.

Matt looked confused at Natalie's retort-- a typical look give back to her per usual as they bickered like family in front of the other two. "What do you mean? They just said they were students! Maybe they were-"

His defense would be cut off by Arthur's sudden barrage of questioning toward the two of them. The fact that they had been out here three hours without a clue of things was a good reason for the sudden flurry, but man could that knight's gums flap as Tim covered the others mouth to give them some breathing room. Left in the aftermath, Matt simply would just blink from the onslaught fired toward the two, looking at Natalie with a shrug a moment. He'd give a sigh; typical assignment yet again it seemed. A wild goosechase that would develop into something... However, this time he had an inkling on what may be going down.

"I have a feeling this mi~iiight be... a reassignment for tea-"

A sudden vibration would occur from the four peoples Scrolls, an alarming tone blaring from them as they suddenly became active again. The maps would now be completely downloaded, however a red circle covered the area they stood, the dot of themselves and their teammate in blue, two other dots nearby them in red. As the map showed their location, the ticker at the top displayed -ASSIGNMENT UPDATED- over and over, a new briefing soon popping up:

Students!

You have arrived to your assigned location! The following briefing was submitted at 0600 hours, with an escalation of your assignment to occur when the criteria had been met! Your new assignment is as follows:

Representing Red Team for the duration of this assignment, Matthew Rigel, Registered: Team KRMN, and Natalie Hayward, Registered: Team KRMN.
Representing Blue Team for the duration of this assignment, Arthur King, Registered: Team LACK, and X43 DFNDR Unit 9 "Tim" (OOC: let me know if you have one for Tim, I couldn't find it)

This is a two-on-two skirmish to test your combat ability.
Standard Beacon procedures involving combat and the safety of it's students still apply. Upon reaching low aura, a warning sound will blare from your Scroll.
Your battlefield is outlined by the red circle on your map-- anything within this boundary is considered a combat zone.
A participant may spend only thirty seconds total outside of the combat zone before being disqualified from this assignment and counted as 'down'.
Aura information is being monitored. Upon reaching low levels, you will be marked 'down' and will be prompted to leave the battle.
This battle will use the honor system. To prevent unnecessary risk, we urge you to follow skirmish protocol as you would on campus for this assignment.

Your objective: 'defeat' the opposing team by acceptable means! Both team members must be counted as 'Down' within thirty minutes, or this assignment will end in a draw!

You have two minutes to prepare before the timer will start! Begin!

Once scrolled through, aura information for themselves would be displayed on their scroll, followed by a two-minute warm up timer that began to tick down. A reminder of their objective would be displayed on the bottom part of the map, reading ASSIGNMENT: DEFEAT THE TARGETS (0/2).

Matt glanced at his Scroll in surprise as the information began to trickle in, blinking at the circumstances-- leading them off campus, having them navigate to the 'battlefield', and now after making small talk... fighting? Beacon sure kept things interesting. Casually sliding his Scroll off in his pocket with a sigh, he'd look over to Arthur and Tim, giving a shrug, "I guess we aren't teammates after all. I coulda sworn this was gonna be a sweet induction for Team MANTis..." He'd fold his arms in thought-- the dream of things slipping away as he stayed casual in warmup time.

"Well... Two minutes to prep, right?" His arms would sink down to cross in front of him as he gripped the jet black grips of the tonfa that hung from his belt. Sliding them out slowly, he'd give the one in his right hand a circular swing, the heavy metal making a low 'swoosh... swoosh... swoosh' as he kept a loose grip on the handle and idly twirled it around. His left hand would stay at rest, finger tapping against the barrel of the weapon, offering a friendly smile toward them as he turned around a moment without a word.

His green eyes would look toward Natalie and gestured to step away from them as he created distance, looking to gameplan with his teammate by taking a few steps away 'swoop... swooop' from his twirling.

Tim got into a combat stance as his eyes turned to a yellow now. He slammed his fist to the ground and stared down his opponents. "Statement: choose opponent." He said to his captain.

Natalie looked at Matt with a slightly confused look at first before Arthur interrupted him. She stood there, a little bewildered at the interactions of the other two, a little unsure of how to respond to them. Matt was the one to step forward to attempt to calm the confusion.

The look on Natalie's face slowly started to turn sour as the word 'reassignment' roll off his lips. 'Stuck on a team with these people? Oh no!' shot through her mind almost instantly. She wasn't all the pleased with the thought of being on a team with any of these guys, let alone the fact she was already on a team with one of them.

Natalie jumped as Matt was interrupted by a sudden beeping of the scrolls. Fumbling with her device, she say the screen of new information. "A.... fight?!" Natalie was a little annoyed at the fact that she was led around for several hours in this forest just for some sparring. And the mention of the so called dream team name stacked on top of it.

Regretfully following after Matt and his ridiculous hand gestures as he appeared to want to strategize for the fight. "Well? Any plans for those two?" Natalie was a little nervous about a fight, obviously not accustomed to fighting with her problem.

Arthur had also taken note of what was about to go down, upon Tim slamming his fist into the ground and hastily puts his scroll away and tries to grapple Tim away to a cover,"Tim, please, we need to come up with combat strategy. After pulling Tim behind a shoulder height crumbling wall, Arthur ducks slightly to keep his head from protruding over the top and he pulls Tim down so their heads are level.

"Let's not rush right into this shall we? We don't know what they can do, who is better suited to who, hell I don't even know how you fight, so this is a learning experience to us all. I say we just go on the defensive to begin with. Just to scout out to see what happens." Arthur lets out a long breath, he wasn't totally confident with fighting anyone with Tim, he'd always had another partner, but he thought this was good enough reason to learn with someone new.

Peeking over his shoulder, he'd make sure the other two students weren't looking as he'd shrug at Natalie first off. The idea of a fight, while nice enough of Beacon to send them off on a wild goose chase to cause no harm to the student grounds... wasn't quite his cup of tea. Still, assignments were assignments, and with only around a minute and a half left to get a gameplan going, they'd have to brainstorm something.

Outside of classes, he hadn't actually done much fighting with Natalie. As a teammate, he was aware of her preference and weapons; a good ice breaking topic among students, but after that, really didn't have much of a gauge outside of everyday interaction. He'd stop twirling his tonfa a moment as they ducked out of sight, looking at his Scroll. "We've got one really big guy, and a knight walking around completely armored. I'm not even quite sure if they have any ranged capability... Hell, Tim didn't seem to have a weapon at all, but that stomp..."

He'd stay cool despite the circumstances, a methodical approach to his speaking as he flipped over the map of the area provided. "It looks like everything past the buildings is the off-limits zone... and we can only chill in that area for a total of 30 seconds before we are 'out'. And with the fight for thirty minutes... hmm." Matt didn't seem to thrilled about a pure offensive approach, without any knowledge of the other two first years, nor his ability to work with Natalie on a battle perspective.

"We've got buildings and the forest for cover... and the courtyard is wide open. The fact that we are at a height and armor disadvantage doesn't look to good on paper, but I'm optimistic. We have maneuverability on our side hands down. Honestly if we can force a ring out, or keep it even for thirty minutes, I'd be fine with a draw." Looking over the wall toward the courtyard, he'd peek for any sight of them before checking the clock: one minute remaining.

In a lower tone, he'd whip up a strategy with his teammate, trying to think of something mutual they could agree on for a plan, "How adept are you at closing in space? Think you can keep the big guy on his toes? I think I can at least provide some support while entertaining the knight a bit, as long as we don't let Hulk Hands start slamming the ground like he did before... Dude scares me..." Pausing a moment, he'd ask, "Is that even a dude? Guy looks like he wore too much sunscreen or something..."

Tim nods and slowly begins to make for the far side of the wall slowly moving and keeping out of sight. A small light beeps multiple times before Arthur's scroll will ring. On it will be the following text. [This unit shall strike the male when told to. Attack word is bull.] He slowly made his way until he was back in the forest still in range of the male.

'What? He? I don't understand. He didn't tell me anything...' Arthur was confused by Tim's tactics, but who was he to argue with a 6ft8 machine. 'I mean, what does he even mean? attack word is 'Bull'? What does he plan on doing?' All this worrying and thinking was starting to give Arthur a headache, he takes the spare moments he has before the fight starts to draw his sword and properly fasten his shield to his arm.

Arthur takes a few deep breaths to calm himself down, 'Okay, do I know what weapons they use? That one guy had like, truncheons? I guess, But I think Tim is going to attack him. What bout the girl though? I cant remember. But he assumed that would be his target, or should he go after the boy as well, to try and get one of them out of the way as soon as possible to make the fight as easy as possible. But he thought whatever, now wasn't the time, 'Let's just see how it goes.'

For once, Natalie listened intently to what Matt had to say. She felt like she had butterflies in her stomach, and was having some problems thinking up of anything herself. Unlike Matt, Natalie wasn't willing to accept a tie. "No ties. We're going to win this..." She gave Matt a stern look, letting him know she was dead serious about winning this fight.

There was first the worry about the robot, Tim. She had to think for a moment upon Matt's questioning about if she could keep him on his toes. It was obvious that he was the strongest one here. But because of his size, she was confident that she had the speed advantage. Reaching behind her, she unsheathed Zephyr as quickly changed it into revolver form, checking to see if it was fully loaded by popping cylinder out to see the bullets. Realizing that her target was probably made of a think metal, she quickly changed it back and sheathed it. It might make a dent, but overall wouldn't stop him.

Thinking for a second, pulled Nashor out, changed it as well as she checked the mag for shots. 'Good... full on ice dust.' Instead of putting up the knife like the last one, she knew that their time was running out and pulled out Zephyr again, keeping it in knife form. "I think I can manage, just make sure you don't mess around with the knight, alright? We don't know what that thing will do, yet."

She neared the corner, peeking out from behind it and quickly noticing that someone, or something, was missing. "Wait... where's the robot?"

Matt would move to the opposite side of the building they hid behind, keeping his back pressed as he could feel the tension building as the clock ticked down. With Natalie's reaffirmation on wanting to succeed, he'd nod in response as he peeked out from his corner a moment. No signs just yet.

Moving back behind the wall, he'd shift his tonfa into his left hand with a soft clang, making sure they didn't latch together as he moved his hanging coat to the side to check his waist. The silver shine of the rims gave him at least some comfort knowing that he wore the right belt today, looking about his waist. 12 shots. He'd reach behind him, patting the three grey pumps as he pulled one out and gave a peek into the loading device, spying a (hopefully) full magazine in wait. If the need came to it, he was filled with enough Ice-loaded shells to last him the duration of the battle if it came down to firing weapons.

"I'm not gonna mess around. Promise!" He'd give her a brief thumbs up to signal he was ready, placing the pump back against his belt attachment.

After the two minutes had passed, the Scrolls would let out a soft beep to signal the start of the mission. The timers began at 30 minutes, and started to tick down after that.

With the beeping going off, Matt would look over at Natalie in shock a second. Whispering harshly, he'd ask, "Whatdoyoumean, where's the robot!?" The battle started off without a good recon attempt by the two of them, Matt peeking out from his corner of the building with a quick scan before drawing back, realizing the area had became a combat zone now. No robot anywhere. Swearing under his breath a moment, he'd peek around for a better area for a vantage point. He really didn't want to split up, but if one target was already missing, this could be trouble.

"You can't hear him anywhere? How can a hulking mass of metal just stay quiet??" Matt's voice remained soft and almost hissing in tone. He'd point at his head with his thumb, gesturing to Natalie's ears as he turned back and peeked back around the corner. With only one confirmed person in sight, he'd look over to a second building within range, the low walls looking high enough to provide some kind of cover and allow them an extra viewpoint of the courtyard. Turning to Natalie, he'd ask "Cover me." as his hand pointed toward the building he wanted to move to, waiting for a confirmation.

Ducking her head back around the corner, she gave Matt a sharp look. "Whatdoyoumeanwhatdoimean? He's not there!" She went back to peering around the corner seeing if she was just mistaken. She let out a sigh as there was still no sign of him. She ducked back around as she muttered a few curse words. She held a hand up to her forehead, brushing her hair out of her eyes so she could think of what to do. "Well, they did managed to keep hidden from us earily, remember?" She was a little annoyed as she snapped at Matt, mostly because of the bad situation.

Putting that aside, she gave Matt a nod of the head. "Got it." She had Zephyr also turn into gun form, just in case she'd need it. "Make it quick, it might be anywhere."

[Seeing as it's been a nearly a month since your last replies, and all the dust around moving between sites still in the air, I'm going to assume that you two had something come up or don't wish to continue this thread. Either outcome is fine, really, as I understand school is ending/exams/ect. If you didn't want to continue, though, I wish you would've contacted me in some way.

I won't be moving this thread over. However, the door is open if you would like to attempt to try this again sometime later, seeing as the idea will be archived here. Thanks for playing it out for the time you have, hopefully next time I can make it a little more interesting.]
