| CHARACTERName: Noveria Lazulin Age: 17 Gender: Female Symbol: TBD Occupation: First year student of Beacon Appearance: Five foot 9 inches tall, weighing in at 128 lbs. Noveria is a Snow Leopard Faunus, and her ears and bushy tail are primarily white, though her tail has golden-brown rings running along it. Noveria's skin is extremely pale, though not quite alabaster, and she has a handful of small scars along her arms. Noveria's hair is neck-length, with a single streak of the same golden-brown hanging in her bangs. Her eyes are vivid orange, and are often active, watching for danger to herself and friends.. As she embraces her feral side more than most, she keeps all her teeth and claws sharpened, to the point where breaking skin is almost effortless for her. Her tongue is more like a cat's than a humans, almost sand-papery. Noveria's typical outfit consists of a black, sleeveless, silk shirt, and she tends to wear a fur-lined, long, white jacket over top. Her lower body is covered by fur-lined, white cargo pants. She tends to wear white combat boots as well, which allows her to blend in to snowy climates fairly well. When walking around more friendly climates, and during combat, she often takes the jacket off. - Super-long history of things:
History: Noveria was born in a village on the northern-most continent of Remnant, near the end of the year. Her parents were the leaders of the Faunus-only village, in part due to their aggression, but more due towards their kindness and willingness to take fellow Faunus in. Both her parents and the rest of the village were overjoyed to have someone that would be able to take over for them, when the time came.
The village itself was secluded from anywhere else, mainly to prevent humans from coming across them and causing problems. The village had a history of problems with humans during hunting trips, and moved further and further away from society until they were weeks out. The area surrounding the village was superb hunting of seal, walrus, and polar bear, though there were many other animals that could be found. The inhabitants of the village were all feline Faunus, with most of them being Snow Leopards or Arctic Foxes.
At age five, Noveria's parents had another child, this time a boy. Everyone was overjoyed to have the new child, Veles, even further securing the line of leadership for the village. Noveria was resentful at first, knowing that attention would be given to the new child, rather than herself, but quickly came to love her little brother. She was instantly protective of him, hardly letting any villagers near him without her knowing their intent.
For the next five years, both children were taught things relevant to running the village. Noveria spent a lot of her downtime protecting her brother, and just spending time with her family as a whole. She was extremely used to a communal setting, often being the person Veles went to after a nightmare. Starting at age 10, Noveria was allowed to begin hunting with her parents, an activity she very much enjoyed. Over the next 2 years, she managed to kill a total of 40 animals of varying species, netting her a record for her age group.
Starting at age 12, Noveria started the grooming for leadership, learning certain combat techniques unique to her family, as well as the general rules and guidelines associated with being an 'alpha' female. She also learned that in the history of the village, there had never been a lone 'alpha' female, that they were always forced in to a marriage, often without ever meeting the person beforehand. It was a tradition generations old, but due to the village's seclusion, they weren't exactly up to date on how the world worked.
Disturbed by the information, Noveria confronted her parents about this, and after a long shouting match, they relented, and admitted that they had arranged a marriage for her. It would be set for a week after she turned 18, and she wouldn't be able to meet the person until the day of. It was disgusting, and she hated it. She couldn't believe her parents would do that to anyone, let alone their own daughter. She begged and begged that they at least let her pick her own husband, but no ground was given. And they wouldn't just let her skip over the position, as she was the oldest of the siblings.
So she left. It wasn't easy, being less than 13, but she managed. She collected her belongings, said a silent goodbye to her brother, and left in the dead of night. She knew she had the survival skills to make it somewhere, she just had to keep heading south. And so she did. She hunted animals on the way, both for food and warmth.
Several weeks after leaving the village, she came across a settlement on the coast, one mixed with humans and Faunus. She was able to trade a decent amount of her gains from hunting away, purchasing a ticket to the City of Vale with some of the money. She spent a night in the town before the ship was to set sail, just enjoying the sites of the city, and exposure to many Faunus species.
The next day, she began her journey to a land completely foreign to her. She rather enjoyed traveling by boat, though she would have been rather uncomfortable lower down near the water. The journey was estimated to take a total of three weeks, with no stops anywhere. It was certainly longer than she expected, and she figured she would be uncomfortable by the end, but had to endure none the less.
About a week in to the journey, she was exploring the ship on her own, just trying to find places to nap, really. At some point, she opened a door to see what was behind it, only to run in to a bear of a man. The man offered to lead her around the ship, seeming rather kind in his offer. However, Noveria had been raised to be suspicious of humans, and that had not changed in the slightest, and she declined his offer, rather politely. As she turned to walk away, however, she felt a blunt object hit the back of her head, and promptly fell to the floor, unconscious.
Waking up several hours later, Noveria found herself locked in a cage, though still clothed and unbound. Fortunately enough for her, her Faunus nature gave her the ability to see her surroundings, though they were not pretty. It appeared that she was in the lowest decks of the ship, with very small amounts of water sloshing around her. It was a nightmare for anyone, but even worse considering she had absolutely no idea what was going on, having never been exposed to this kind of treatment.
Moments after she came to, the man from before opened a nearby door, letting a small amount of light in to the room, and alerting her that she would be trapped for the next few weeks until she could be sold at an underground auction. She was to be fed and given enough water to survive, though not remain healthy, but nothing more.
For the first few days, she hardly moved, only taking what little water was offered to her. She was primarily thinking of a way to escape, and wondering what exactly would happen to her once she ended up on the mainland if she failed. Luckily for her, however, she wouldn't need to think too much longer.
Eight days after her capture, a violent storm started fairly close to the ship, causing massive waves and harsh weather for them to sail through. After several hours of the ship tossing and turning her around the room, the lock of the cage was smashed on one of the uneven surfaces in the room, allowing Noveria to get free. She quickly rushed back to her room, finding it relatively untouched, save for the storm throwing things around.
And that's where she spent the rest of the trip, only leaving in the dead of night for meals or to use the restroom, but otherwise staying locked in her own space, scared for her safety and freedom. Once the ship arrived, she waited over six hours before she was certain nobody else was on the ship, and finally left, arriving on the mainland.
Wandering around for a bit, she checked out a few shops, considering she still had some money, and purchased new clothes, though kept her roots and went with decent winter wears. It was in one of these shops that she noticed the date, and that she had spent her birthday alone, in that damn cage. All because of completely horrific laws and traditions in her home village.
Beginning to get angry at quite a lot of things, she realized she would need to temper her anger with something, and started to look in to fighting classes or a fighting school of sorts. Of course, she quickly came across information on Signal and other such academies, and was extremely interested. She quickly applied for Signal, and even though she had no prior combat experience, her survival experience was more than sufficient to get her entry.
For four long years, she endured the schooling. Four years, she spent being discriminated against, for reasons she really didn't understand. And she stayed silent through all of it, unless the taunting happened around the holiday season. That was the only time of year she would lash out, and when she did, she was a force to be reckoned with.
It was during her time at Signal that she began keeping her teeth and nails sharpened, deciding that acting more like an animal was the best way to defend herself at school. Even when she found her weapon, she tried to avoid using it except to defend herself. It became extremely easy for her to slide in to her feral nature, using her instincts more than anything else. This did result in some problems, but she was never threatened with anything over detentions.
Upon graduating, she was presented with the option of continuing her education at Beacon, something she gladly accepted. She did request one thing of the school, however, and that was to form her own team based on people she selected. Considering Beacon was aware of her tendency to be aggressive, they allowed this abnormality for the sake of other students.
Personality: Noveria retained the instincts of a leader, and tries to remain in a position of dominance if she can help it. She would rather have people willingly submit to her, but she has no problem doing it by force. More often than not, a verbal announcement of submission is sufficient for her, but if someone won't submit willingly, she will try to force it out of them, often by biting their neck. With her teeth being so sharp, she tries to avoid biting any of her willing followers, though accidents do happen. Being a predator, in both her mind and appearance, Noveria is alert at all times, being a very light sleeper. If harassed for no good reason, she will tend to react poorly, sticking either her nails or teeth in to the unfortunate soul. She remains a carnivore at heart, and will sometimes make light-hearted jokes about eating 'weaker' Faunus. As a leader, she can be rather kind-hearted, not using her position to force anyone to listen to her, though she does command a level of respect. She tends to think of other feline-Faunus as her siblings, feeling extremely protective of them unless she knows they can handle themselves. The standing of other species of Faunus depends on their personalities and natures. If she feels they're a bigger predator than she is, she will either steer clear, or submit to them, depending on who exactly they are. If she feels they are weaker than her, however, she will dismiss them as a threat and possibly even befriend them. Noveria is extremely suspicious and often aggressive towards humans. She feels that there is no reason to trust them, and tends to loop all of them in to the same group as the man who caged her. Now that she has grown up some, she will often attempt to tell them to stay away, though if they don't listen to her warnings, she will turn aggressive. She can usually hold herself back from any threats if it's someone that her pseudo-siblings cares for, but this may not always be the case. During her leisure time, Noveria can often be found taking a nap, sunning herself, or even cuddling with pseudo-siblings of hers. If she has a good reason to be happy, those close to her physically may actually hear a throaty purr coming from her, though she denies these claims at all times. The only time she will completely close herself off from the world is at the holiday season, feeling too many emotions and re-experiencing too many bitter memories from the time period. Strength: As a feline-Faunus, Noveria has superb senses, though her hearing is her greatest. If there aren't other sounds to distract her, she can often hear the heartbeats of a healthy person up to twenty feet away, even through solid objects. Her sense of sight is on par with most Faunus, giving her perfect night vision, and her sense of smell is above average for Faunus. She still maintains superb leadership instincts, though has a hard time being a leader sometimes. Her teeth and nails can give her an edge in unarmed combat, being sharp enough to draw blood with almost no effort on her part. Another bonus of being a feline-Faunus are her superb mobility skills. She's extremely agile, finding it easy to dodge a lot of attacks, though bullets are beyond her. While her speed isn't the best, her stamina is far above average, giving her the ability to run for extremely long distances and periods of time. Her senses aid her ability to fight, allowing her to keep track of enemies in almost all situations. Weakness: While her senses are a major strength, they also end up being her biggest weakness. Overwhelming any of her senses will hinder her, but overwhelming her hearing will often cause her significant amounts of pain. Noveria is not built to fight at long ranges, so anyone using that to their advantage would probably win in a fight. In addition, any kind of force applied to her tail will cause immense pain, potentially putting her out of a fight. Noveria will often put herself in danger to protect anyone she cares for, even becoming blind with anger if someone is injured. She tends to fight fast, striking the opponent as much as possible, but leaves herself open to attack as a result. In addition, she has a problem with fighting multiple enemies, being unable to defend against attacks very well. Semblance: Feral Roar. Noveria can amplify her vocal cords using her aura, releasing a roar that can invoke fear or stun weaker opponents. Using it too frequently can permanently damage her vocal cords, rendering her mute. The roar doesn't work on larger Grimm, but often works on things like Beowolves, Ursa, wild animals, and other people. The primary downside is the fact that it can have a negative impact on teammates, though anyone she knows well enough may feel more courageous after hearing it. WEAPONName: Koroleva Primary Form: A whip that takes on a metallic grey color. It's around five feet in length, and is rather lightweight. The whip is made from a titanium weave core, with sections covered in armor grade ceramic, that are spaced an inch apart. The ceramic sections are around 6 inches long, and three-quarters of an inch in diameter. The handle of the whip itself is a titanium core, wrapped in leather. Secondary Form: By flipping a small switch near the top of the handle, small barbs will raise out of the ceramic areas. The barbs themselves are curved slightly, allowing them to catch clothing, skin, or even muscle and bone if exposed. However, they are only around a quarter of an inch long, and as such, are fairly easy to remove if able. History: Found in one of the forests near Vale, Noveria is rather unsure of the origins of Koroleva. The weapon seems extremely advanced, potentially even the result of a military test. Koroleva seems extremely durable, and even faster than Noveria's eyes can keep up with. For some odd reason, the whip never seems to be able to strike Noveria, often missing by less than a few centimeters.
