CHARACTERName: Rodin Tali Byde (pronounced similar to Odin except with an r at the beginning)
Age: 17 (birth: Nineteenth day of the First month)
Gender: female
Symbol: Bleeding Tear
Occupation: student
Appearance: Rodin is a whopping 5'4 and 116lbs. She has slightly longer than shoulder length auburn hair, which looks a rustic gold in the sunlight. Her eyes are hazel and are almost always wide-eyed and innocent, while her small smile speaks otherwise. Rodin is usually seen with the type of smirk that never quite looks playful, endearing, annoying or otherwise... In fact, it can get just a tad bit unnerving. The claw scars on her right shoulder are hidden by the guard.
Rodin wears a comfortable t-shirt and long pants as well as shoulder armor and a heart guard which bears her symbol. (more info? check the below image) VVV

History: Rodin grew up in the less than ideal situations: lower middle class, two parents that only tolerated each others presence, the shortest of the short, the weakest of the weak. Granted, it could've been much much worse. As it was, Rodin retreated to the comfort of intellectual studies rather than physical ones... Until she tried to read one of the action-packed novels of fictional Hunters... From that point, Rodin threw herself at becoming a Huntress (equal parts of her want to escape from her parents as the appeal of adventure)
When she was accepted into Signal Academy one year early, she couldn't have been more excited, actually going around buzzing with happiness and with a genuine smile. Her third year in, her mother died on the job. While hunting for dust, her party had been attacked by creatures of Grimm. Rodin abruptly left, coming back in the last few weeks of the year sporting four scars and an emotionless mask.(what happened during this period is unknown to anyone outside of Rodin. It will be elaborated in character as her story progresses) Due to her incomplete training, she was held back a year, landing back among old familiar strangers. Rodin graduated Signal...
Landing herself in Beacon Academy.
Personality: Rodin tends to stick to herself. Easily startled by noise, Rodin is always alert and makes for a hard target to sneak up on. She doesn't seem to care for others too much, though she displays an intense loyalty to her team. She does not consider them friends (yet); they’re people with whom she must work with. Rodin will usually appear with a smile on her face (the type that doesn’t reach her eyes), though during battle, she opts for a concentrated frown. She doesn’t show much emotion besides surprise, it seems, and has often been known for her almost robotic reactions.
Strength: Rodin has an extremely high defensive stat. She has decently quick reaction timing and does not let her emotions interfere with her life. She is not completely helpless without Sitaphael (if you manage to get her to part with it) and is an average fighter. Rodin is fiercely loyal and a reliable team mate. she will do anything to ensure the safety of her allies
Weakness: Rodin is not on the offense team for good reason. Her ability to fight is hindered by her low physical strength. She is also not as agile as other students and will mainly use Lyradel as method of transportation. Just because she's not good at fighting with her sword instead of her shield does not mean that she will switch from time to time, she's just significantly less able to contribute. "she will do anything to ensure the safety of her allies" <-- because she gets in stupid situations thanks to it. She also seems to fear large (10+) groups of beowolves.
Semblance: Her Semblance is the ability to increase or decrease the mass of any non-organic material through touch for the duration of the touch. For example, she cannot increase the mass of clothes since they were made of living things (ie cotton/wool/wood or whatever) but she can manipulate the mass of rock/metal (ie other peoples and her own weapons).
This does require a decently long amount of hold time (anywhere between 5-30 seconds depending on the amount of shift)... and as most students in beacon academy are more agile and physically capable than her, she isn't quite comfortable using it on others for fear of getting hurt. Instead, Rodin uses her semblance to use her weapons more effectively during battle.
WEAPON- Weapon picture:
Name: Lyradel
Primary Form: a double bladed long sword with an explosive shot. Lyradel is approximately 4.5 ft long and consists of two swords which form the barrel of a shot gun (modified to use a clip for an easy refill) that she will frequently use as a method of getting around on the battle field. It has two black blades with varying silver and green accents.
History: Lyradel was crafted out of a family heirloom, a long sword her great great grandmother used to fight in the war. The original Lyradel, formerly known as "the Liar", was improved during Rodins time at Signal academy, in which she turned the traditional sword into something that she could use.
Name: Sitaphael
Primary Form: fully encasing gauntlet/armguard... it really has no other point to it than that. The gauntlet is primarily a dark grey with silver and green accents. It consists of multiple plates of metal. She will often use this form to block melee attacks. (it is difficult to wave around a gigantic shield to block the fastest flurry of jabs after all)
Secondary Form: full out shield. It's 3.5 ft high and 2.5ft across in it's expanded form. The shield, even without Rodin's semblance to weigh it down when needed, is very heavy. Sita is the perfect size to conceal the form of a crouched Rodin (which was the reason for its specified height and width). The shield is primarily a dark grey with silver and green accents and is used to usually block magic, ranged, and large Grimm
To activate the shield, Rodin will punch outwards (usually angled down slightly or fully), causing the metal bracers about her arm to shift and release/unfold the remaining metal.
History: Sitaphael was created from nothing and is Rodins pride, treasure, and closest friend. The shield was forged after Rodin was accepted into Signal Academy... it's been with her ever since.
