PostSubject: Cheshire Schrodinger   Cheshire Schrodinger Icon_minitimeWed Oct 16, 2013 9:42 pm

CHARACTER

Name: Cheshire Schrodinger

Age: 18 nineteenth day of the eleventh month

Gender: Male Faunas (cat ears: Increases hearing sensitivity and awareness.)

Occupation:: Student Hunter, Casual Artist

Symbol: A narrow feline eye with topaz whites and a black crescent pupil. Surrounded in a violet vortex

Appearance:
Spoiler:
Stands about 6'3 ft tall. His usual attire include highly flexible and light weighted fabric for the long coat and pants as well as leather gloves featuring firm grip pads on the fingers and thumb allowing him easier maneuverability and an easier time climbing or grasping items so it is hard to make him lose his grip on his weapon. He wears obsidian metal layered plate armor over his chest and the plates continue over his arms up to his wrists but that is hidden by the sleeves of his coat. The armor is made by sewing together several sheets of metal to provide durability and defense without sacrificing mobility. While this armor protects the vital organs in his body and his arms it also weighs a minimal amount and barely burdens his speed and agility.

Personality: Cold and distant towards most others. Shows little emotion or expression . Sometimes shows small subtle acts of kindness and a soft side though strongly denies it whenever called a tsundere. He is actually extremely kind beneath the cold exterior. Calculating and stern, Cheshire is the type to react quickly to things. Although usually cool and showing no emotions, there is one thing that will break his composure. This being women. Socially awkward and inexperienced with such things, Cheshire is awkward when it comes to women and gets restless and nervous with females. Despite his cold shoulder treatment, Cheshire is very loyal to those close to him and would do anything to help them.

History: The grandson of a Faunas tactician and general during the great war who was killed by an anti-Faunas group several years after the war's end, Cheshire has more then a mere distrust when it comes to anything that isn't a fellow faunas (low social status). Being burdened by years of bullying and discrimination due to his heritage, Cheshire has trouble being open to others and has few to no friends. Diving himself into his studies, he distances himself from others. His high marks got him into Beacon (high intelligence). He has a large amount of aura for an average Faunas (above average aura level/endurance) but other then the aura functions of one of his weapons, he does not know how to directly use aura without weaponry. Though he he has a cold outlook on humanity, there is one human he secretly admires. He is secretly a huge fan of the famous singer Kara Eberle and goes to every concert no matter the cost. When her first album came out he bought three of them; one to store, one to use, and one to display. (high loyalty)

Cold and distant he keeps his past a mystery. It is known by few that he at one time had a childhood friend who was a human. Her name was Alice and she was possibly the only person to ever invoke a smile from him. She had defended him one day when he was bullied by other kids and pushed to become his friend. He cherished her more then anything and loved her with all his being. At the age of seven they promised each other to one day marry and have children. It was a promise made between children but they were both fully aware of what they were vowing. At the age of eight, their village was attacked by a horde of Grimm. Soldiers came to the village to fend off the Grimm. Taking Alice he tried to take her to safety but while running a building had collapsed in the crossfire. The rubble threatened to crush them both but Alice pushed him away letting herself get pinned beneath tons of wood and stone and surrounded by fire and ember. Cheshire tried to come to her aid but had cracked his ribs falling on a rock and the pain was too much to even let him move. A huge Beowolf suddenly appeared. Spying Alice pinned under rubble it set its sights on her. Panicking, Cheshire looked for anyway to save her. He saw a soldier nearby mere meters away and the soldier had spotted them. He yelled at the soldier for help. He pointed at Alice but in the midst of the smoke all the soldier could see of Alice was her vague image. The only thing he could see clearly were the cat ears on Cheshire's head. He then spotted a human man much farther away. Armed with a rifle he was fending off an Ursa. The soldier turned his back on the two children and raced towards the human man to aid him. Seconds later Cheshire was forced to watch the Beowolf tear Alice apart. The last this she did before the Beowolf struck was smile at him with tears in her eyes and said to him three simple words that forever echoed within him. In his rage and anger, Cheshire forgot the pain of his cracked ribs and rose roaring like a mad beast. Grabbing a broken wooden board covered in fire he smite the Beowolf and tore a scar as it barely broke a crack across the eye of the Grimm's armored skull. Before the Beowolf could pay him back the fire around them grew and the monster instinctively bounded off leaving the child alone with burned hands, the fire around him slowly diminishing as the piles of wood and rubble that fueled it burned away. The sound of battle and death surrounding him, Cheshire spent the next three days embracing the bloodied body of his precious friend and cried the last tears he will ever allow to escape his eyes. It was only for three days because several survivors of the village had to force him to let go. His hatred for the creatures of Grimm is equaled only to his grudge against humans. He took on being a hunter because suicide is a coward's way out. He will fight with everything he has to protect those who can't protect themselves and when death inevitably comes he will accept the cloaked reaper with opened arms knowing he went down fighting and will earn his place by Alice's side once again.

Strength:

* Has well-honed strategic ability and a keen eye for detail and information giving him the ability to easily predict attacks minutes beforehand and plan counterstrikes in an instant. Usually this is a well timed evasion maneuver followed by a quick and lethal strike.

* He possesses extremely high speed and agility and a near instant reaction ability. By focusing intensely and putting a strain into the strength of his legs can sprint to cover 20 meters in a second but can only travel in a straight line like this. To blatantly describe it's sort of like instant movement ninja technique. This puts a strain on his stamina to apply that much energy into his legs and being that he can only go in a straight line and unable to stop in the middle, he uses this very rarely.

*A keen eye analysis. Is best with performing counterstrikes and taking advantages of openings in defense. He can read the weak point of most enemies by analyzing their build and the way they fight and will quickly strike at the vital points when the opportunity gives him room to.

Weakness:

*Only possesses a basic amount of strength. The only amount of strength he bothered to build up is just enough to carry his weight and his weapons while maintaining his preference in speed. If he lightened said weight he could be faster but he eats very little already and going into battle without weaponry is just foolish.

*His lack of strength diminishes his melee attack ability and he cannot do much damage with blunt strikes unless striking at a vital or weak point. His hand to hand combat is fairly weak in other words and most other hunters can probably beat him in a test of strength.

*Other then maintaining his standard quick speed and lifting around his weapons any increase he attempts to force into his physical power or speed that isn't his usual performance strains and tires him easily.

*Though his keen eye for analysis is effective depending on opponent may take different amounts of time finding weak points. He prefers to end things quickly and efficiently because prolonged combat tires him out if he overexerts himself.

*Though he makes it a point to think before acting, the side of him that despises seeing pointless death could make do reckless things to save his comrade. His rationality is almost completely gone when it comes to the well being of a fellow faunas.

* His lack of expression and his inability to show his real thoughts to others makes it hard for him to interact with others and make companions he can fully trust to fight alongside. In extension, he finds it difficult to trust people in general.

Semblance: Dimensional Distortion: Being everywhere and nowhere. Activated through concentration and a form of self hypnoses. This semblance allows the user to change his position and location to another area. To put it into a single term of description; teleportation. The user must first recognize himself being somewhere else. In other words, the user must imagine and belief that he is somewhere else. Through proper mind set, it can be done instantly. This ability is near impossible to use to locate to a place the user does not know or has never been to. Teleportation range is limited to a 300 ft radius (roughly the length of a football field) from where the user's current location is

Space distortion may also be partially used on specific parts of the body. Through much deeper concentration, the user can have his body separate while staying connected.

Visual description: User stands at point A. Using space distortion on right hand, user makes everything from the wrist down and everything attached to it appear at point B over ten meters away. A light covers the area where the limb separates from the main body which shows the presence of the space distortion.

The limb can still be moved and controlled by the user as if still attached to the main body. This ability requires heavy concentration and cannot be used instantly or repetitively. If concentration is broken during this time, the distortion is immediately cancelled and the body returns to its original construction. Due to the need for deep concentration, during the use of this type of distortion, user's movement is slowed immensely to the point where user is unable to even move during this time. If user attempts to make sudden movements or actions, concentration is immediately broken and the distortion is cancelled. This ability can be used on any part(s) of the body.

The semblance can not be used with others and only the user can change his own location. Distortion does not allow the user to change the position of himself or any part of himself to appear somewhere where space is taken up (ex. In the middle of a wall or inside a person).

WEAPON

Name: Felix the case

Spoiler:

Primary Form:
A carry around suitcase with a feline eye in the middle of the top lid. The eye on the side is a two function mechanism. The feline pupil can blow a dense smoke screen dark enough to roughly hinder a human's eye sight but allow a faunus to see perfectly fine. Sort of like artificial night fall basically. The whites can emmit a bright light about as potent as a flash bomb though there is a charging time between usage and Cheshire has to cover his own eye during usage giving the enemy a small opening to take advantage of. The case itself also stores a dozen hand grenades that can be taken out and thrown manually. Vladimir and Elizebeth are also stored in the case by leaving the tiger hook blades in whip mode.

Secondary Form/Function: A sub machine gun shooting normal ammunition at rapid fire rate. Short, sweet, and simple.

Third Form/function: A high impact sniper rifle. Again, short and simple.

Vladimir and Elizebeth

Primary form/function:
Vladimir and Elizebeth:
Designed more for Cheshire's combat style of strategic precise and quick strikes. The double edged tiger hook sword design gives him more options for counterstriking. If he can catch an opponent off guard, Cheshire can hook his blades over their weapon and twist to disarm them (or hook the limb or neck of some grimm) His lack of his own muscular ability will have him lose at a test of force and strength against most others so he has to time this carefully and be very quick to do this before his opponent has room to react. (All functions are explained in the picture design)

History: After the original sheath Baskerville with lost on an important mission, Cheshire started storing Vladimir and Elizebeth in this combat equipped suitcase Felix. Cheshire had been designing Felix ever since he started his pursuit in becoming a hunter and only recently completed it.

Name: Helsingr

Primary Form: *carried on left hand* http://redscar-nova.deviantart.com/art/RWBY-OC-Cheshire-Schrodinger-407283855

A semi-classic inherited from father. Does not transform or condense at all. Blades positioned more for counterstrikes rather then frontal assaults. Rifle produces a medium kick and has a reloading time of 1.2 seconds. The rifle carries a 9mm piercing sharp tipped steel core bullets and shoots for a bullet speed of nearly 700 mph. Has a strong kick and high accuracy. Mostly made for long range sniping rather then prolonged combat. The butt of the rifle has an incredibly thin but highly durable steel string retracted inside to keep it hidden but a ring that acts as the string's handle can be pulled out to extend the string for multiple purposes such as allowing Helsingr to be thrown like a spear and quickly retrieved or to pull the user towards the other end. The string itself can be used for multiple purposes such as strangling/decapitating smaller Grimms like Ursas and Beowolfs or as a tripwire or a restraining trap for certain Grimm like Giant Armors. String will automatically retract if string is pulled a specific way (like window blinds). The metal string is durable enough to hold when pulled in opposite ends by 2 giant armors  with one on each end. Anything more will probably snap it.

History: An heirloom from his diseased father, the weapon has remained by his side and a trustworthy partner. Made to be a light weighted weapon. Ever since Cheshire started using Baskerville, Helsingr has been reserved more for situations that require him to keep a distance or quick precise shooting. A girl's ribbon is tied to the handle. It appears to be red but spots of white seen after closer analysis reveals that red was not its original color.

Looks good to me, though the aura shots on Conender may be an issue. I'll let someone else comment and of course you can edit in the future. Approved.

Couple things.

Quote :

This can't be a thing. While RWBY RPG shares the same world as RWBY, the timelines don't line up perfectly. As such, in general, main characters cannot be interacted with or mentioned. You can change this to another famous singer that you can make up, however.

In your strengths, you mention having high agility and using that to avoid most attacks instead of blocking them. In your weaknesses you mention that you cannot block well but can avoid things often, but then say you have low dexterity. I feel like this is a contradiction.

I don't see anything else wrong at this time.

Well I thought that since it technically was not a direct interaction that it wouldn't count but I will change it if it's really necessary.

Sorry about the DEX thing, that was a typo I didn't catch. I actually meant to put in "Low Block %" in relation to my sacrifice of physical strength in exchange for high agility and speed. I will fix that immediately.

This contents of this message do not necessarily reflect that of the administration of RWBY: the RPG, or the moderation staff except Vox, who has been told to be honest, but keep the dickishness to a minimum. What follows is the attempt to obey that directive.

The profile at the time I was writing most of this:

Ooooh boy, where to start... And let's see if I can "behave" like Koop wants me to, though I did actually read every word of this. More than some people can say before levying criticism.

Appearance and personality... nothing special, nothing out of the ordinary. Not even that bad with the admitted status as a self-insert goes. Yes, I checked the DA page. A bit cliche at times, but everything mostly okay there, even by the standards a self-insert gets judged by... Then we get to some things in history.

Quote :
At the age of eight,
And some stuff that's actually interesting, like the soldier ignoring them because of prejudice. Not... interesting enough to cover what follows.

History wrote:
In his rage and anger, Cheshire forgot the pain of his cracked ribs and rose roaring like a mad beast. Grabbing a broken wooden board covered in fire he smite the Beowolf in the face and jabbed the splintered spikes into it stomach killing the beast.
Killed a Beowolf at age 8? Okay, no.

And now... strengths. Which you flat out said in Chat you were going to change it to be like this, after your poor reading comprehension skills caused you to fly off the handle about Leonius. Irony of ironies, this gem was here even before this edit.

Quote :
Strength: Has well-honed strategic ability and a keen eye for detail and information giving him the ability to easily predict attacks minutes beforehand and plan counterstrikes in an instant. He possesses inhuman monstrous speed and a near instant reaction ability.
IE, "LOL HE CAN DODGE EVERYTHING"

Quote :
Fast enough to close twenty meters in an instant at the highest strain of his agility.
Twenty meters per second. At least, I'm assuming a second to be exceedingly fair, since an "instant" is even shorter. Sure its "at the highest strain" but sixty-five feet in a second. No statement of how, he accelerates up to 44 miles per hour, either. This one is new. No less "LOL NO" but it's new. I invite you, by the way, to, in a car going 44 miles per hour, stick your foot out and TOUCH the ground.

After more "HE CAN DODGE EVERYTHING AND WILL NEVER BE SURPRISED, AND HIS SPEED LEAVES HIS OPPONENTS CONFUSED" stuff...

Quote :
He can quickly read the weak point of most enemies by analyzing their build and the way they fight and will quickly strike at the vital points when the opportunity gives him room to.
"AND HE KNOWS YOUR WEAKNESSES"

Oooh, but then we get to weaknesses. And this is fun, hearing you talk about imbalanced strengths and weaknesses in the chat.

Quote :
Weakness: Tends to be too wary and cautious during combat. If statistics and odds are not favorable would hesitate to take frontal action. Has a habit of overthinking at times. Only has above average strength.
"He's cautious." Despite being able to dodge everything, apparently.

"He'll hesitate when things are against him." So common sense is a weakness?

... And my favorite... Being ABOVE AVERAGE in strength is a WEAKNESS!?

... I'm not even touching the weapon. Even with a revision, a fair bit of this stuff existed before your poor reading comprehension and belief that your supposed experience makes you an authority became a devil's brew that resulted in some of the above tantrum. Hell, even looking at the reversion you did, the only thing not there is the 20 meter per second sprint, and common sense being a weakness. This is enough for me to write this word that I have not yet posted on a profile. You are the first.

Denied.

Let's see what the others think.

I had some things to take care of before I had the chance to fully edit. I know I stated I was done before but when I re-read after getting a cooler head after a nice shower I realized there were some balancing issues and miswording. I had work to do then sleep so I WAS going to finish editing it this morning. Although for the back story I'll have to defend myself on that. Age doesn't matter when it comes to the ability to kill. You don't need a high school diploma to know how to swing a knife or pull a trigger to a gun (I live in Louisiana, trust me I know) Take it from a guy who practically had to jump kick the door open when gun shots were suddenly heard down the the hall one fine afternoon in middle school. A piece of broken and splintered wood if broken a certain way can easily pierce flesh and getting stabbed through the stomach is self explanatory. From what I've seen of the Beowolfs or even most Grimm in general is that two major weak points are apparently always the neck and the stomach. Its a mere matter of adrenaline and initiative for even a nine year old to be able to stab something through the stomach. Take note that the piece of wood was on fire at the end so the lingering flame would've broiled the inner organs (assuming Grimm have organs despite bleeding rose petals instead of blood)

Except it isn't an eight year old pulling the trigger on a gun. It's not even a eight year old using a non-improvised bladed weapon designed for what it was used for. It's an eight year old using brute force to impale a Beowolf with a wooden board he just broke over the beast's head, something that requires the kind of upper body strength an eight year old is unlikely to possess. Have you ever seen an eight year old? They're not big.

"WELL IT'S SHARP" you cry, following that factually dubious anecdote, as if it explains everything. Nevermind that while parts of it are sharp, the whole structure, with its ragged breaking and catch points, is incredibly likely to be conductive to impaling without a great deal of force an eight year old is unlikely to be able to muster. You then, toward the end, go on to mention that it was on fire. Not charred. Not flame polished. On fire. Which doesn't exactly help the structural integrity of wood, making the impaling part even LESS likely.

So you have an eight year old with "ONLY SLIGHTLY ABOVE AVERAGE STRENGTH AS AN ADULT, THAT'S TOTALLY A WEAKNESS," breaking a board over a Beowolf's head and jabbing it in the gut with a structurally unsound piece of wood. You then claim it would "broil the internal organs" which is probably one of the least idiotic things in the above message, though still not quite correct.

But then you fail biology. The Beowolf falls over dead. Because apparently, its heart is in its stomach or something. Because creatures who remain standing after the shock and trauma of having a limb suddenly amputated are totally going to be floored after an eight year old with an eight year old's strength just stabbed them with a structurally unsound bit of kind of sharp burning plant material, and not, I don't know, tear that eight year old's face off because the stomach doesn't have organs immediately necessary for survival and, as you used to defend this, adrenaline is a hell of a drug.

So you fail physics, because eight years old. You fail material sciences, because fire. And you fail biology, because stomach wound.

Your idealized self-insert is still denied.

First off, do not put words in my mouth because none of that was how I was going to retort. Second, I've seen back stories claiming much worse things like vaguely stating "he was the strongest hero in his village" and it's just a back story for a character in an anime world setting. It doesn't effect his actual character design or anything just his resulting personality and reaction to future events. But if you're going to be over critical about it then fine I'll change it to "he hits to thing with a burning piece of wood and the monster catches on fire" or "he hits the Beowolf tearing a scar over its eye but as the fire around them grew the Beowolf instinctively bounded off into who-knows-where and the tragic protagonist now swears a cliche vengeance". That obeys enough laws for ya Mr. Critical?

All of my statements in quotations were reductions of things you had already said. I didn't have to put words in your mouth, I just had to use what you already said.

The difference between "strongest hero in his village" and "killed a Beowolf with a piece of wood when he was eight" is realism. In a world of heroes, logically a village may have a strongest. It's simple deductive reasoning. The eight year old, however, serves only to illustrate the idea "HE'S SUCH A BADASS" which is the icing on the cake for your Gary Stu.

This is one symptom, ONE, of the disease that infests that profile.

On a side note, I like how applying logic is apparently "overly critical" of your wish fulfillment fantasy.

Look can we please just drop the eight year old thing?  I changed the back story to something more realistic so can you please just say whether it's approved or not and if not then just please tell me what else is wrong.

Preferably without the sarcasm please.

Oh boy, here we go again...

... Screw it, your Gary Stu self-insert will be forcibly balanced as part of something coming up, so your profile, while definitely proving you're one of the last people to have the right to criticize and helping to call into question your supposed veteran status, can be someone else's problem. I'm sick of dealing with it.

Kooplah, and someone else are handling this now until I have reason to be called back in. There's only so much of this crap I can stand in a given week.

Alright, so this took forever, sorry.

Okay, I like your semblance. The second half. The first, half, assuming I am interpreting it correctly, allows for complete teleportation of your character. Teleportation is extremely powerful. If you want to have this part it needs a strong limitation, such as very limited range, or requires line of sight, etc. Let me know what you think.

I like the second half of the semblance, with shifting parts of your body to other areas. It has a good weakness, with the limitation that you can't move while doing it. Depending on how the first part is handled, I would possibly say this should have a somewhat limited range, but not necessarily. Let's talk about part one first.

Depending on how the first part is handled, I would possibly say this should have a somewhat limited range, but not necessarily. Let's talk about part one first.
Alright, seems fair. I've edited in that there is a 300 ft radius limit (roughly the length of a football field). It is given that this limit is applied to the second half as well. Is this fair? Also as it was previously stated, this is not a spammable skill.

Alright! New weapon updated now that that old gag piece has been eliminated. Okay so to list all of the changes I made:

*Changed the character picture under appearance.

*Divided the wall of text I made under strengths and weakness to make it easier on the eyes but still state generally the same thing.

*Added Baskerville and got rid of Conender.

*Changed description of fighting style to reflect addition of new weapon.
