Despite being seventeen years old, all of the trauma caused by the accident and the following intensive surgeries somehow screwed with her body’s ability to produce the proper amount of growth hormone that most girls her age would be getting. It is because of this that since then her body has seemingly stopped aging and she still appears to be twelve years old, rather than seventeen.

Riese’s cybernetic limbs were made to look just like regular limbs on the outside. They’re covered in synthetic skin that blends seamlessly into the real skin still covering her torso. Her usual outfit consists of a red dress with black and white sleeves. A bright green ribbon keeps her blonde hair up in a neat, long ponytail. A pair of oversized, red boots always cover her feet.

Personality
Riese tries to stay in a chipper mood whenever possible. She can be seen as an optimist, and has a tendancy to give people weird nicknames whenever she makes their acquaintance. Even after everything that's happened to her, Riese still has a passion for painting. She sketches whenever she has the time, or sees something worth drawing.

Riese is always a bit conflicted with how to conduct herself in public. On the one hand, it's always always easier if people see her as an everyday little girl because of her appearance. On the other hand, if they find out the truth that she's much older than she appears, it just seems to complicate the situation further. It’s especially difficult now that she’s attending Beacon, where she has no choice but to act her age. What twelve-year-old gets enrolled in an academy that trains its students to hunt the creatures of Grimm?

History
Cheryl Faust grew up in the Mistral Region with her parents, and two older brothers. Her father was a toymaker, and was always trying to get his children interested in the family business. Unfortunately, Cheryl’s head was always elsewhere whenever conversation between herself and her folks drifted towards the subject. She had always been fascinated with capturing the world around her and putting it on paper. She wanted to paint for a living.

Due to constant disagreements with her parents, the young girl would spend as much time away from home as she could. Cheryl would take her sketchbook with her and search the streets for anything that might catch her eye as an interesting model to draw. One night, after a particularly heated argument about the usual subject, Cheryl stormed out of her house with her sketchbook in hand. She crept out of the city limits, still in a huff and not wanting to talk to anyone. It was then that she spied a bird perched upon a branch above her head. Cheryl had never seen one quite like it before. Even with the limited light from the night sky, she could see that its feathers were of a brilliant jade hue, tinged with snowy white. She had to get a sketch of it!

However, as she started scribbling the image before her onto a page in her sketchbook, Cheryl heard a menacing growl coming from behind her. It was a Beowolf! What was one doing so close to the city? The girl hurriedly tried to make it back to the city walls, dropping her treasured sketchbook in the process. She wasn’t nearly fast enough to outrun the creature though. It pounced on her, causing her to emit an ear-piercing scream. By the time local hunters could arrive on the scene, twelve year old Cheryl’s body had been chewed and mangled quite thoroughly. She was alive, but barely hanging on by a thread.

Cheryl was rushed to the local hospital. The damage was quite extensive. All four of her limbs were heavily mutilated and were far beyond saving. The most the doctors could do for her would essentially leave her as a torso strapped to a wheelchair for the rest of her life. However, her predicament caught the attention of a particular scientist who happened to be visiting a colleague of his in that very hospital. Accompanied by the surgeon who had just finished fixing her up, Dr. Ivan Sinclair stepped into Cheryl’s hospital room once her surgery had finished. He looked over the helpless girl who was now missing her limbs and covered in severe bruises, shaking his head slowly.

”Tell me, child. Is this how you wish to spend the rest of your days?” he asked in a calm voice. Cheryl looked up at him wordlessly, still refusing to believe that any of this was real and feeling a bit woozy from the anesthetic. ”I may have just the thing you’re looking for; an opportunity for you to walk again. However, it’s an experimental procedure, and there’s a price. In exchange for a new lease on life, you must fight the creatures of Grimm.” He paused, noting that her expression hadn’t changed in the slightest. It was obvious that Cheryl was still a bit out of it. ”I’m not returning home just yet. I shall return tomorrow, after you’ve had time to mull it over.” With that, the elderly man took his leave.

The hospital room was quiet and uncomfortably sterile looking. What was she going to do now? The first thing that came to mind was cry, but for some reason no tears would come. What would her parents say? They had only popped into the room for a brief visit, and they were obviously uncomfortable about the current sight of their daughter. She definitely wouldn’t be getting into the family business no, nor could she follow her true passion in life anymore. The girl was completely in shock. She had no idea how long she stared blankly at the hospital wall, thoughts buzzing through her head at 100mph. Apparently she fell asleep at one point, because the next thing she remembered was waking up and seeing Dr. Sinclair sitting the corner of her room.

Cheryl agreed to the proposal he had made the previous night. It was only natural that she was scared of the thought of fighting the creatures of Grimm, but what did she have to lose at this point? Dr. Sinclair then explained that in order for her to take part in the procedure, she would have to leave her old life behind. She was to accompany him back to Vale, change her name, and alter her physical appearance. There was to be no distractions that any baggage of hers might have brought. She was allowed to write letters to her family, but that was it.

Cheryl hesitated once the new conditions were presented. However, the hesitation was quite brief. She had never felt that much of a connection to her family since they had always butted heads for as long as she could remember. Once again, she agreed and the two of them were off to Vale.

Upon reaching Vale, the young girl was no longer Cheryl Faust. Her new name was Riese Sinclair. She was now Dr. Ivan Sinclair’s niece who had come to live with him after her parents had died in a house fire. Her brown hair had been dyed to a nice golden blonde color. The elderly scientist got right to work on crafting a new set of limbs that would be just the right size for Riese. The blueprints and surgery steps were already mapped out extensively, so it didn’t take more than a month.

Life wasn’t so bad in Vale. Once she got her new limbs and synthetic skin coverings, Riese got to sketch as much as she wanted. She even wrote the occasional letter to her folks telling them not to worry and that she was fine. Riese couldn’t give them any specifics, so that much would have to do. The years passed by like nothing. The girl hadn’t started her monster training yet with all of the tweaking Dr. Sinclair was still doing to her limbs. However, she was starting to notice something strange about herself as time continued to march by. She wasn’t getting any older! Not appearance-wise at least…

Riese brought up her concerns with Ivan. In between working out the bugs and design flaws in her prosthetic limbs, he looked into the matter. Apparently everything that had happened to her had had an effect on her growth hormones, causing her to look and sound the same age as the night she had been attacked by the Beowolf. In theory it was possible to try and trigger growth through other means, such as trying to chemically reproduce these growth hormones, but he hadn’t done nearly enough research on the matter to turn that into a reality. Besides, he had enough maintenance to do on her limbs already. To have to keep up with that and periodically altering them so she didn’t outgrow them would have been a nightmare.

By the time Riese’s seventeenth birthday rolled around, she still looked like she was twelve. All four of her mechanical limbs were working wonderfully, and she had even mastered the very basics of combat with all of the testing that Dr. Sinclair had put her through. Now it was time to move onto the next step of their agreement. Even though she didn’t look it, Riese was now old enough to attend Beacon Academy. Not only would it teach her how to handle herself again the creatures of Grimm, but it would also force her to get out and socialize. She had been a bit of a shut-in during the years she had spent with Ivan. The scientist had wrote the school’s higher ups a letter explaining Riese’s situation. With that, she was off to Beacon…

Strength:
Riese has a pair of mobility boosters installed on the bottoms of her feet, as well as in her shoulder blades. These give her increased mobility and jumping ability, but can’t be used for more than 10 seconds straight before requiring time to cool down. Her arms and legs are also quite durable. Her small size also makes it a bit harder to hit.

Weakness:
Riese doesn’t have all that much reach with her melee weapon thanks to her short arms, and is very reliant on her Radiant Blaster’s cannon mode during combat. While her arms and legs are durable, her torso is quite weak seeing as how it’s not reinforced by any sort of metal. It’s not hard to knock her back with a well-placed hit to her stomach or back. In order to keep her mechanical parts working in peak condition, Riese must charge them using an electrical socket every night while she sleeps. On the off chance that she overexerts herself or is unable to charge over night, she carries three backup battery packs with her that will keep her combat-capable for up to two hours each. When she runs out of power, the most she can do is walk at a very slow, strained pace.

WEAPON

Name
Radiant Blaster

Primary Form
Riese Sinclair 2r7pqvm
Radiant Blaster - Cannon Mode
The skin on Riese's right arm pulls back and reveals the metallic structure of her synthetic arm. The metal shifts and reforms itself until her hand and forearm have reformed into a shiney, red cannon attached to her elbow. This cannon fires bright blue energy projectiles.

Secondary Form/Function
Riese Sinclair 29enqs7
Radiant Blaster - Bladed Mode
Rather than firing energy projectiles, a blade composed of blue energy appears to pop out of the barrel of Riese's Radiant Blaster. It functions like any other sword.

History
The Radiant Blaster was a weapon constructed by Dr. Sinclair and installed directly into Riese's right arm about a year before her entry into Beacon. By then she had already grown used to her new limbs and all of the bugs had been worked out of them, so there was no need to worry about it activating and firing unexpectedly.

Approved. EDIT: I see the changes, still approved by me.

Hmmm  Dr. Ivan Sinclair needs to be an NPC... not that I would have reason to use him.

Nope, Silva would never want to talk with him ever....

Alright. I'm almost ready to approve it as well, but I have questions first. In your history, you state that you never attended a combat school before Beacon. As such, your situation would be similar to Jaune's. Your aura would likely be inactive/very undeveloped.

Your mechanical bits also need a power source. Dust is the most common and probably best option. They can have a hidden power source, such as the dust/engine/battery pack/whathaveyou is inside each arm and such though. I don't see much issue with that, other than they probably wouldn't be able to hold a lot of fuel. So that should be a potential weakness. Alternatively, the batterypack/engine could be external in some fashion, such as a backpack, or something on your shoulders/hips/wherever. Let me know what your thoughts about this.
