Individualization

Devia[T]. A company name (Pronounced Deviant) that everybody knows. If the past half-century was them sprouting from a sapling to a tree, then the past few years have been the flowers budding and bearing fruit. As a company, they are easily one of the most influential economic forces that exist in Vytal. Medicine, Weapons, Transport, Technology, Science. Many, many things have the brand name on them.

However, they aren't the bright golden apple they appear to be. Like any big company, there is always a chance for scandals, darker secrets. But for Devia[T], their secrets, their shadows, are ones that are stronger, tighter, and it's grip is so unsuspecting yet powerful that soon they have a plan in the works that only 1% of every single person associated with Devia[T] actually knows even exists.

And for those who do, the consequences have been so much bigger.

You see, they uncovered something. Not just the company - no, this is the heart of the company. Not the brain that tells everyone what to do, not the limbs, or muscles....no. The group of people who are the reason that Devia[T] exists have found something that will only serve them. What they found, they haven't shared, but they've shown enough to the government that there have been a huge stream of funds towards them from taxes.

And what they've found has sparked a controversy in the 1%. Half of them hate it. Thoroughly oppose it. To such a point that they oppose it like a terrorist group - in a way, they ARE a terrorist group. The Aberrants, they've focused themselves on making it hell for Devia[T] and to ensure that their plan never succeeds. For the other half of the 1%, they continue the plan, with a massive work force behind them that blindly follows.

What have they shown? What are these secrets? What is it they plan?

This is a story that intertwines many things. From new technologies made, to battles in the streets. From a mysterious new power emergent from a history long past to an almost civil-war conflict between a private military and a terrorist group. Taking place in the Kingdom of Vale and it's surrounding areas, and concerning the entire world, this is a story you simply won't be able to not take part in.

Welcome to the Feldt Runes plot zone topic! Just a small note: This plot has a linear plotline, but there will be things you can possibly change about it that can only make it interesting. It is an RP, after all. If you've got fun things you want to work out, PM me. If you've got things that you plan to do only in character without explaining things to me, that's fine as well, although hobbling together an army in secret won't suddenly change the storyline as much as PMing me about an idea involving a single soldier.

Furthermore, this entire story will take place in multiple threads that may or may not be of my making. It could happen in a dedicated plot thread or it could happen in some random, open thread, or, depending on the maker, even a closed thread. As such, it shouldn't be too hard to get involved. However, if there is a time when you don't know how to get involved, or want a more prominent role, fret not, for there's me, and there are others who can help out!

Navolas - Plays the leader of the Aberrants. If you ever want a character to get intertwined with the story of the Aberrants and through that, the full plot, then asking him would be a great idea.
Kooplah - Plays one of the members of Devia[T]'s inner circle. If you want a character to somehow get involved thanks to Devia[T] (Anything is possible as long as it's realistic!) PM him! Smile

3 Spots for other members of Devia[T]'s inner circle are open for you guys to play. If you wish for it, PM me for the details.

Now, you might've heard from before, or just figured from the title and common sense, that this plot revolves around a power. Well, kind of. Effectively, there are multiple powers that have been appeared that exist because this plot. And yes, while there is a single power that the plot revolves around, you're free to come up with new ideas and get them approved! (Foooooor example, there's this prototype ship with a framework that can react to emotions. Think of that as you will.)
Although technically you could always do that anyway. Razz

The Powers that be - The below explanation described the research into Sentilynphesis, a metal with unique properties, and the powers it grants for a person when placed into Rune form on their body. Should you wish to have a character with a 'Feldt Rune', be sure to note it in the 'Strengths' and 'Weaknesses' section. Your character will still need approval. After the character is approved, PM his/her profile to me so I can add his/her name to a list. Disclaimer: By having a character with a Feldt Rune, you agree that when the plot calls for it, your character will have to go to specific locales for things to happen.

Dr. Feldt's Personal Journal

Weekly Entry 26

It's been over 6 months since we found the temple. We've come so far since then. And right now, my research into Sentilynphesis is nearly complete. Of course, the secrets in them, the future that it holds for us, those things have yet to be uncovered, but the information I want procured - it's practically done. And it's beautiful. Restless nights and continuous hours of research probably make me look like a maniac with coffee but now, I definitely am one.

It's beautiful. Let me sum it up.

7 Months ago Devia[T] found a temple, which also held a high amount of a rare metal called Sentilynphesis. I was brought on just for the scientific research as the lead - co-operatively with the archaelogists, historians, whatever those guys we, we continued to crack the secrets down. What the temple walls said - that I managed to confirm - is that this metal is highly reactive to brainwaves, intronic sequences, and pheromones. Or, if you want it in a few vague terms - Psyche. Emotions. Feelings.

Months of testing revealed basics - firstly, this metal is pretty much a virus. It gets into your body, does stuff, changes it. Exactly how, we still don't know. However, what it does, we do know. Thanks to the translation of the temple's markings, we've learned that this metal can function as a power magnet - by coming in touch with specific brainwaves, pheromones, etc. it can turn into a well of pure energy, powering a biological body. We knew from the markings on the temple that specific runes - like tattoos - granted specific powers, but at first we thought that they had to be inscribed. Like a real tattoo. We used a single design seen repeatedly on the temple, and found that the success rate of the virus bonding with the host upped with a specific personality trait. As project lead, the Runes were collectively dubbed 'Feldt Runes' after me.

Continuing our research, we found the effects of the virus, even as we synthesized different versions of it, but more on that later. We found that, with a version of the virus that we synthesized, we could simply bond it to the host and, provided their body doesn't die from the virus entering the body itself, the virus would be able to read the intron sequence to understand the person's psyche, and create a corresponding rune, and hence a corresponding power. Example: People with Anger issues getting the same rune designs.

Now, the powers. While very interesting biology-wise, we find that the easiest way to explain it was from a combat-based perspective. To explain, we'll take a look at the strengths, weaknesses, and side effect, along with activation power. This excerpt is taken from specialists from the weapons subdivision who were taken for a day to give insight. The Mercenary with the Lilac hair, who was only just so cute, gave some insight as well. Unfortunately, those men talked about it like without a scientific approach, but then again, that was the point.

=====

"known collectively as 'Feldt Runes', which the plot revolves around (not heavily), it is something that just about any character can have, by any player. This power can be recognized by a special Rune, or marking, on the chest of the character who has it - each Rune, effectively a tattoo, will be unique for each character. When the power is activated, the marking and iris' of the character's eyes will glow a unique color, and the user's body will emit a faint aura of that color. The more power is drawn from the rune, the more this aura glows.

An interesting side effect that these Runes have on Fauna is that their physical animal characteristics (And possibly mental) are increased.

This power is activated through 2 required prerequisites. 1. Emotions. Each specific Rune corresponds to a different emotion or feeling - pain, courage, fear, hate, anger, jealousy, love, happiness, etc. and for the Rune to activate, the corresponding emotion must be felt by people around you, or yourself. The more people feeling it, the more the rune would strengthen. 2. Acknowledgement by others. The Rune can only be activated by the emotion of people who know that a Feldt Rune holder, or rather, the character is there. As angry as a person can get, if you're on the other side of a wall and they don't know you're there, the Rune won't activate.

The power of the rune is easily explained - it buffs speed, strength, and mental cognitive function. A smaller but still evident boost in repair and healing is also there, augmenting what Aura can do. The user can still use Dust and Aura. The more the emotions, the stronger the emotions, the more the Rune will grant power to the user. In theory, this is limitless, but the body itself cannot sustain such power and the user would die. In long term, the rune slightly retards aging, increasing retardation as you use the Rune more.

The weaknesses aren't as easily explained. To specify them:
- While energy is drawn from emotion, they are spread through your body through your Aura. As such, using the Rune means your Aura is also constantly used as well. The more the Rune powers up through more and more of the corresponding emotion, the more Aura is used up.

- The power to boost speed and strength are semi "magical" (If Aura counts as magic, then this is too, unlike Dust, which seems to have a possibly fake but evident science behind it), but the fact that they are affecting cells doesn't change. A scraggly kid gaining the ability to run like an athlete for a minute will have a lot of microtears in his muscles, and possibly kill cells.

- Using the mark gets you high. And not 'I'm flying in the sky' high, its the high that could come from a drug, from the chemicals in your brain. The more powerful the emotions, the more powerful the Rune, the higher you get. Just like drugs, addiction could be a serious problem. Furthermore, the more you use the Rune, the lesser the Rush you will feel. As such, if using it to get high, a person would need the Rune to get more powerful, more and more so.

You should be able to tell the consequence.

- Using the Rune boosts your cognitive function but the more you use it + the more powerful you use it will slowly cause the degradation of a single cognitive sense until you lose it completely. As long as it isn't lost, without external help it will heal very slowly. But can your character stay off of the addiction long enough?

- Finally, the worst issue is that even if you stave off using it, the part of the chest where the Rune is branded will start to hurt more and more, stopping only when you receive another high. When it is painful enough, your mind will 'shut down' from the pain, and the Rune will activate on its own, searching out it's emotion to fulfill it's thirst."

=====

Well, that explains it, pretty much.

Research continues. The above effects are from the first synthesized version of the virus that works. While we don't know if it can get better, we know that the effects correspond with what the temple's markings and language (Which seems to be based around the runes themselves) describe, albeit the fact that with this synthesized virus, we have a survival rate of 100%, while on the temple's murals, "Only those chosen to be warriors gained the power of sentiment" hints at a very low survival rate.

So there you have it. A Feldt Rune, explained - A synthesized bioweapon that, used on a biological being, creates a feeling-to-energy converter, the feeling being one which is 'perfect' in compatibility (totally not for character development) with the user due to it being based around the user's own psyche . If you have any questions and queries, PM me.

Now what?

As I had alluded to before, the Rune isn't required to enjoy being a part of this plot. However, there's a point in the story, towards the end, when there's a bit of a split in what happens. Rune bearers go one place, everybody else can't go there. As such, if you wish to have a Rune bearing character, you need to PM me with your character's profile. Not for approval - the mods will take care of that. But for me to put you on a list.

However, the one thing I wish to request (You have no need to follow this.) is that, if you have a Feldt Rune bearer who isn't aligned with Devia[T] - your characters don't remember how they got the Rune.

If they are aligned with Devia[T] (And/or got their runes by them) then they'll probably know that the Sentilynphesis bioweapon was made by them.

All player characters have the exact same version of the synthesized virus in them; it's full effects described above. NPC's can have any version of the virus.

Now, you know all the details needed. What will you do? Will you join with Devia[T], work with them to earn enough to literally live in an estate the same size as Beacon Academy? After all, it's not like what they're doing is illegal - or evil. Will you fight them, raid their products, fight this supercompany that pretty much has a paramilitary, alongside the Aberrants, who seem to think otherwise about Devia[T]'s antics? Or will you act alone, or with another group, with your own plans, your own objectives?

TL;DR - PM Me if you have questions. But please, at list skim it!? :3
