We're moving to a new website!

The time has come. In the words of Vox...



We are moving to a new site. We voted quite a while back now, and there didn't seem to be too much disagreement. So, we've gone and gotten the new site setup and basically ready to go!

Before that, I have a couple of things to discuss. We've been quietly mentioning the creation of this site for... about a week now. We decided originally that the move wasn't worth it in the end, but our site was recently reported for inappropriate content. The report alerted Forumotion of this, and they gave us 7 days to remove the offending material, which we have done, along with removing some similar content just in case. That said, there is no way to tell if they will still act on the report, and if they do... poof! This website will be gone. Worry not. I don't believe that will happen, and if it does, we do have a backup of all the data on the site, including everyone's characters, and the like.

Now, onto character transfers. Character transfers are kind of a big deal. We are making everyone transfer their own characters. Each one needs to be in its own thread, just like on here. This is an excellent opportunity for you to edit your character profile if you wish. If you do not, there will be little to do beyond the few steps below. Here's how it goes.

1. Make your account on the new site.
   
2. Copy your profile from this site to the new one, posting it in the character creation section.
   
3. In your new profile, please make a link to your profile on THIS website. This will expedite the re-approval process.
   
4. On Forumotion, you need to edit your current signature to include your NEW username(Even if its the same. This is for verifying your identity.)
   
5. Post in your thread IF you are making any changes. If you are copying your character with zero changes, you do not need to post.
   
6. Characters with 0 changes will be moved into the approved section.
   

If your character is currently being reviewed, you should move them over now, and still include the above steps, especially the link to the profile on Forumotion.

Now then. Let's go ahead and get the link for you so we can talk about the next subject, the site itself.
The index page is still a work in progress. Additionally, Cartography, an affiliate site we are working with, is still under construction. So for now, just go ahead and click on our new forums!

The last thing I want to add is the new group system. On Forumotion, we created a group for every team that was created. This allowed for a rainbow barf effect in the chat room, because everyone was a different color, and was using different colored text. We are changing this system on the new site to be based on student year. There will be a single color for 1st years, one for 2nd years, third, and fourth. Additionally, we'll be adding new groups as the need arises. Exact details will come later, but we already have one for teacher characters(Which are still being worked on, promise!). We'll also end up having ones for factions, such as the White Fang, and perhaps other non-canon factions that are created.

I suggest moving as soon as possible, so we can eventually phase this site out entirely! The plan is to leave this site running for a while, but directing anyone who comes here to the new place.

PPS: You can all thank Shem for being a five-year-old and wanting to ruin everyone's roleplaying experience that has been built up over the past seven months for this move.

I think the account activation email for the new site doesn't like Gmail. I waited ten minutes between my five requests to resend the email, and I still don't have it.

Check your spam.

I think people are misreading step 4. I've seen multiple people write their old username on the new signature, rather than the correct way. I just felt like pointing that out.

Same here.

We will look into it. I've also had an issue with it.

If you need your account activated still, and cannot receive an email, please PM me with your new account name and I will activate your account.

Update: Emails arrived on a few hour delay for me. Akai's message is also a good idea.

A few things:

When will the entire move be "officially" completed?

What will happen to this site? Will it be shut down?

What will happen to character profiles by users who are on leave but plan to return?

I suggest having another subforum on the new site in Creations dedicated to "approved" profiles that are moved is better. That way, we wouldn't have already approved profiles and new ones mixed together in the same area.

Soon. We are waiting on the chat system to be fully functional.

The forums, except for general forums, will be locked, and the chatbox disabled. The site will remain here for viewing.

Because of the above, nothing will happen to profiles here.

We also considered this, but decided that it wasn't needed that much. Especially now that a decent amount of transfers have happened.
