CHARACTER

Name: Mike Caudex

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Symbol: Doesn't have one (Yet. May be added later if I can be bothered)

Occupation: Beacon Student

Appearance: Mike has short white hair, unstyled and messy. It comes about halfway down his forehead, revealing light brown eyes. He usually wears a light blue t-shirt with a sleeveless bomber jacket over the top. He wears light jeans, with white running trainers. He is about 5'7'', and is quite scrawny, but stronger than would be expected of a person of his build.

History: Mike has spent most of his life in a small, remote village, far removed from any of the kingdoms. Whilst the village was often the target of Beowolf raids, it was never much of a problem as over the course of time, the villagers had adapted to this threat. Children were trained from a young age in order to fight them. When he was 10, Mike was sent to Ignis where, in addition to more academic subjects, he learned how to fight the creatures. This was required of all of the village children once they were 10 years old. Before that, they were sent to an ordinary school. At the age of 17, the children would be sent to Beacon Academy, to train until they were ready to return to guard the village. As the years went on, the younger generation would replace the older generation, and would continue to guard the village until they were unable, at which point they, in turn, would be replaced. Mike spent most of his time out in the forests surrounding the village, playing in the safer regions of the area.  

When he got to Beacon, he was placed into team Mockingbird, along with Markus Grimm, Nathaniel Dispar and Lucius Cole. He quickly made an impression on the students there, and within the first week had caused Nathaniel to smash most of the school grounds, getting the whole team in big trouble with the Beacon Guard.

Personality: Mike is generally a really energetic guy. He tends to annoy people with his incessant babble, which rarely relates to the conversation at hand. He will talk to anyone he feels like, but for the most part others tend not to aknowledge him and he ends up driving them off- the main reason he has a hard time making friends. Although nobody can truly claim to understand what goes on in his head, it is almost certain to be freakish and extremely psychedelic. Although he often comes across as dim-witted and ignorant, he is actually quite intelligent, and capable of thinking around problems rather than face them head on. However, he generally doesn't make use of this natural talent, habitually making brash moves and endangering his life. When he is alone, or tired, he tends to play Chess with himself, which is seen as odd by most people.

Strength: Years of climbing and playing in the trees makes him very adept at navigating forests, always able to find his way back to a place he has been before, and he can climb trees faster than most people, making him good at making fast getaways, but only in the forest. Other abilities would be:

Stays calm under pressure
Intelligent (When it suits him)
Enhanced training against Beowolves

Weakness: He isn't very strong, as he makes use of his weapons to do most of the fighting. As such, he has difficulty fighting back if he is trapped in an area where his weapons can't be of use.
He isn't very quick on his feet. Although he can navigate the treetops with the slightest of ease, he has difficulty running for long periods of time across open ground.
The slow rate of fire and low speed of his only ranged weapon means that, although he is very accurate at inanimate targets, he doesn't have much of a ranged attack.

Semblance: Unknown to him before he entered Beacon, Mike has a hidden telepathic ability. Should he ever be stuck in a situation where he is unable to speak, Mike can send thoughts to anyone, anywhere. This can be used to discuss tactics in battle, call for help, or simply communicate over distances of up to around 2 miles without the need for a phone/ whatever they have for communication in Vytal. He can also recieve thoughts, but only if the person he recieves them from wants him to know. He can't simply infiltrate someone's brain, find their weaknesses, and exploit them. The people must "send" them willingly.

WEAPON

Name: Tacitus & Venator

Primary Form: 2 punch daggers that can be used as grappling hooks.

Secondary Form: When activated, the blade of the weapon can be fired as a grappling hook. The rope is coiled inside the bridge and attached to the bottom of the blade. The blade itself is sharp enough to be able to penetrate most materials, such as stone, wood and flesh. When the blade is embedded in it's target it locks, and barbs spring out to hold it in place. This prevents the blade from slipping, preventing any unfortunate fatalities. The barbs can be retracted at the push of a button, releasing it from whatever it is embedded in. The speed of retraction can be altered depending upon the circumstance. The blades allow a person to perform huge leaps or climb up any surface with ease, and retracting the blades at faster/ slower speeds allows for tactical superiority. The rope is generally strong enough to carry two people, although if they were smaller, e.g. children, it may support up to three.  

History: When he was 10 years old, Mike was given a knife as part of his graduation into Ignis. The students were all tasked with designing their own weapons and he created Tacitus & Venator, which have proved invaluable to him over the last 7 years. Whether escaping a pack of hungry Beowolves, jumping across deep chasms, or scaling tall walls, the two weapons have been of great use to Mike, and will continue to be over the next few years until graduation.

Alright so I suck and haven't paid any attention here.

Questioning your semblance. It shouldn't have an unlimited range, or even a massive extreme distance. Can you have it so the range is only a few miles at most? Or, you can have it be one way too. You can only send messages out, not receive them. Less useful, though.

The whole part where people have to be willing to let you here their thought is confusing, since they have no telepathic training. How would they do that for example, and how would your semblance know the thought is for you even when they're so far away, etc.

Right. I've edited the semblance range, but the explanation is difficult to do. The best way I can put it is that most people have mental walls automatically in place that Mike's ability cannot penetrate. However, people can take down these walls to allow Mike access, should they want him to know certain thoughts or feelings. They need to know that Mike has this ability in order to do this, but it doesn't require any special telepathic training. When Mike activates his semblance, he automatically searches for any "unlocked" thoughts within his vicinity. It's difficult to explain, but it was basically just a buffer to stop it becoming too overpowered.
